Job summary

P2K is seeking a Concrete Finisher II (Intermediate) to prepare sub-grade, set forms, pour and finish concrete for roads, sidewalks, curbs and floors in Atlanta. You will ensure surfaces are sound and joints meet specifications.

The role involves operating trowels and screeds, installing expansion joints and reinforcement, and training junior finishers while maintaining safety on site.

Qualifications

• Experience finishing concrete surfaces to spec.
• Ability to lift 70 pounds and work in varying weather.
• Valid driver license and clean MVR if required.

Responsibilities

• Sets and aligns forms that hold concrete to the desired pitch and depth.
• Spreads, levels, and smooths concrete using hand/power tools.
• Produces rough concrete surface with broom or finish.
• Applies curing compounds and seals to protect surfaces.
• Installs expansion joints using foam, boards, rod, and caulking; uses cutting tools.
• Installs structural reinforcement such as dowels, tie bars, and wire mesh.
• Observes surface irregularities and corrects as needed.
• Mentors Concrete Finisher I on proper methods and safety.
• Works safely and follows site instructions.

Position Overview

Prepares sub-grade set, sets, and align forms, pours and finishes concrete for road surfaces, sidewalks, curb, gutters, floors and roads providing a pleasant appearance and a sound structure and structural joints according to specifications.

Essential Functions Of The Job

• Sets and aligns the forms that hold concrete to the desired pitch and depth.
• Spreads, levels, and smooth the concrete; uses a come along, shovel, hand or power trowel, hand, or power screed.
• Produce rough concrete surface using broom.
• Applies hardening and sealing compounds to cure surface of concrete, and waterproof or restore surface.
• Installing of expansion materials in joints by placing foam, boards, rod, and caulking. Use of cutting machine to cut contraction joints according to drawings. Use of dowel drill machine in PCC Projects. Feels and observes surface of concrete to determine if it is rough or uneven.
• Installing of structural reinforcement such as dowels, tie bars and wire mesh. Sets according to standards and measures.
• Analytical observation on the concrete surfaces to determine if it is rough or uneven, make corrections if apply.
• Assists in training Concrete Finisher I in the proper methods and techniques for concrete finishing and safe operation of equipment in accordance with worksite safety requirements.
• Follow instructions.
• Other duties as assigned

General Tasks

• Maintain a clean job site to eliminate potential hazards.
• Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.

Requirements

• Occasional travel overnight - Travel may be required based on operational needs.
• Valid Driver license and Clear MVR record if needed to drive.

This position is subject to outside environmental conditions to include extreme cold and hot temperatures according to the season. This is a heavy-duty position that requires long periods of standing, walking, climbing, stooping, and bending. Applicants must be capable to lift 70 pounds or more.
