Job summary

Founded in Rapid City, Scull Construction Service, Inc. seeks an experienced concrete finisher to form, place, and finish concrete on challenging projects in the northern plains region. You will contribute to a team that prides itself on quality and safety.

Pay ranges from $24 to $29 per hour with overtime eligibility, weekly direct deposit, PTO, comprehensive health plans, 401K with profit-sharing, and apprenticeship opportunities to develop skills and advance your career.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of concrete experience
• Must pass pre-employment drug/alcohol screening
• Must have transportation to job sites, including out-of-town work
• PPE and tools required for shift, arrive on time
• Attend safety meetings and follow company safety policies
• Willingness to travel and work overtime, including weekends
• Ability to work safely and maintain equipment and jobsite cleanliness

• Carry forms, clean tools, tie rebar, and use a rebar bender
• Set and strip forms, pour and finish flatwork
• Set-up, pour, muck, screed, and finish interior and exterior to tolerances
• Operate equipment such as gas saw, Bobcat, and forklift
• Take direction from supervisor and work as part of a team
• Be dependable and complete assigned tasks
• Willingness to learn and take on tasks as needed

Job description

At Scull Construction, a concrete finisher is responsible for forming, placing, and finishing concrete. The position’s skill set is continuously increasing by working with an exceptional team that prides itself on doing some of the finest and most challenging projects in the northern plains region.

Pay: $24 - $29 per hour

Essential Functions:

• Cleaning and inspecting surfaces for pouring issues
• Carry forms, clean tools, tie rebar, and use a rebar bender
• Set and strip forms, pour and finish flatwork
• Set-up, pour, muck, screed, and finish interior and exterior to all tolerances and specifications with attention to detail to provide an acceptable uniform product
• Operate equipment such as a gas saw, Bobcat, and forklift
• Take direction and accomplish duties outlined by your supervisor and ask questions when you do not understand the task
• Be dependable to your team: You work as a team and progress as a team
• Assist with all tasks; even it is below your skill level

Education Requirements:

Job Requirements and Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of concrete experience
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and random employee pool drug/alcohol testing
• Must have personal transportation to and from job sites, including out-of-town work
• Must arrive on time to job site fit for duty for required shift and have personal protective equipment (PPE) and necessary tools with you.
• Attend all safety meetings and maintain safe job site practices following company policy
• Wear and maintain PPE as directed by supervisor and safety team, including but not limited to hard hats, safety glasses, and high visibility vests
• Willingness to learn and master new tasks, duties, and responsibilities
• Pay attention to job details to provide an acceptable uniform product
• Identify and communicate any job site hazards
• Safely and correctly operate all equipment and manual/power tools. Do not operate any equipment or tools that you have not been trained to use properly
• Keep all tools in good, clean, and operating order
• Demonstrate and promote safety and proper housekeeping on all job sites
• Display a positive attitude towards the company, fellow employees, and customers
• Be responsible for working unsupervised and complete work as directed
• Willingness to travel out-of-town
• Work overtime as required, including some weekends
• Maintain acceptable personal hygiene
• Dress appropriately for working conditions
• Ability to instruct and direct laborers and other construction helpers in a positive and encouraging manner

Physical Requirements

• Able to physically lift heavy materials (up to 75 pounds) frequently throughout the work shift
• Ability to safely climb up and down ladders
• Ability to work alone once instructions have been given
• Able to complete a full day's assignments involving one or more of the following: Standing, sitting, bending, stooping, squatting, crawling, climbing, kneeling, balancing, pushing, pulling, reaching overhead, and repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers
• Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment and any other safety-related equipment
• Able to work from various heights via ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and other safe work platforms over 10 feet
• Able to work in extreme weather conditions and elements, indoor or outdoor, including heat, cold, rain, mud, dust, and snow, depending on the job location
• Able to work a minimum of 8 hours a day, with overtime and off-hour shifts as required
