Job summary

A construction company in Monroe, NC is hiring a Laborer responsible for various tasks involving concrete, such as aligning forms, finishing surfaces, and patching defects. The position requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to pass a background check and drug screening. Working hours are Monday to Friday with weekend availability. Qualifications

• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Must pass background/MVR check and urine drug screen/fitness test.

Responsibilities

• Align forms for sidewalks, curbs, or gutters.
• Smooth and finish concrete surfaces using hand or power tools.
• Level, smooth and shape freshly poured concrete.
• Rub concrete with abrasive stone for finishing.
• Remove rough spots from concrete surfaces.
• Patch holes with fresh concrete or epoxy compound.
• Mold expansion joints using edging tools.
• Mold expansion joints and edges using edging tools, jointer or straight edge

Job description

• Align forms for sidewalks, curbs, or gutters; patch voids; use saws to cut expansion joints
• Smooth and finish surfaces concrete slabs to specified textures, using hand tools or power tools including floats, trowels and screeds
• Spread concrete to specified depth and workable consistency
• Level, smooth and shape surfaces of freshly poured concrete using straightedge, float or power screed
• Rub concrete with abrasive stone to finish
• Remove rough or defective spots from concrete surfaces, using power grinder, chisel or hammer
• Patch holes with fresh concrete or epoxy compound material
• Mold expansion joints and edges using edging tools, jointer or straight edge
