Position Description
Summary
Adena Structural is seeking a dependable and hardworking Concrete Finisher / Laborer to join our construction team. This position will assist with concrete construction, finishing, forming, reinforcing, and general job-site operations. The ideal candidate has hands-on construction experience, takes pride in quality workmanship, works well as part of a team, and is willing to learn additional construction trades. This is an opportunity to develop your skills while working on a variety of commercial and industrial construction projects.
Primary Job Responsibilities
- Assist with preparing concrete forms, installing rebar, and laying out work according to drawings and specifications.
- Assist with concrete placement, including operating hand tools, power tools, screeds, mixers, pumps, and other equipment.
- Perform concrete finishing activities such as screeding, floating, edging, troweling, tooling, and applying specified textures or finishes.
- Assist with formwork, reinforcing steel, embeds, and other structural components.
- Read and follow construction drawings, blueprints, and project specifications.
- Perform general construction duties and assist other trades when needed.
- Safely handle materials, tools, and equipment, including lifting and moving heavy materials.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas throughout the project.
- Follow all company, project, and OSHA safety requirements.
- Work closely with foremen, superintendents, and other crew members to complete projects safely, efficiently, and according to schedule.
- Perform other duties related to concrete and general construction as assigned.
Position Requirements
- Minimum 1–2 years of construction experience required; concrete finishing experience preferred.
- Experience with concrete, masonry, carpentry, forming, rebar, or other related construction trades is a plus.
- Ability to use common hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Basic ability to read and understand construction drawings and blueprints.
- Knowledge of concrete forming, reinforcing, placement, and finishing techniques preferred.
- OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 certifications preferred.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, carrying, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
- Ability to work safely around heavy equipment and construction machinery.
- Valid driver's license preferred.
- Commercial driving or heavy equipment experience is a plus.
- Willingness to learn additional construction skills.
- Ability to work independently when assigned tasks and effectively communicate with supervisors and coworkers.
- This position requires the ability to work in an active construction environment and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the workday.
- Employees must be able to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds, operate tools and equipment, climb, bend, kneel, stand for extended periods, and work in varying weather and job-site conditions.
- Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic are essential.
