Job summary

EMERY SAPP & SONS in Kansas City, MO is seeking a Concrete Laborer to support day-to-day concrete operations on heavy civil projects. You will assist with site prep, form setup, pours, finishing, and curing under the guidance of foremen.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent, basic math skills, and a strong work ethic. Physical endurance and willingness to overtime or travel as needed are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in construction required; concrete or heavy civil experience preferred.
• Basic understanding of concrete processes (forming, pouring, finishing, curing) preferred.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn and grow in concrete construction.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds and working in all weather conditions.
• Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist with concrete work including site preparation, form setup, rebar placement, pouring, and finishing support.
• Prepare and clean job sites before and after concrete pours, including grading, compacting, and material staging.
• Support crews with placing, spreading, leveling, and curing concrete.
• Load, unload, and transport materials such as tools, forms, and reinforcement materials.
• Operate hand and power tools to support forming, pouring, and finishing activities.
• Assist with setting and stripping forms, tying rebar, and installing embeds or anchor bolts.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment, especially around active pour operations.
• Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE.
• Work closely with foremen, finishers, and crew members to ensure quality and productivity standards are met.
• Adapt to changing site conditions, including weather and scheduling around concrete pours.
