Job summary

Hawkins Construction in the Columbia area is seeking an experienced Concrete Carpenter to join our field team. You will build, install, and strip concrete forms for foundations, walls, slabs, and curbs, reading plans and ensuring accurate elevations.

You will work outdoors in varied weather, travel to assigned job sites, and occasionally extend hours to meet project needs. Safety and teamwork are emphasized daily.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Concrete Carpenter, Form Carpenter, or Carpenter in commercial concrete construction preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Proficiency with common carpentry hand tools and power tools.
• Ability to measure, calculate, and work from dimensions and elevations.

Responsibilities

• Build, install, and remove concrete forms for foundations, walls, footings, slabs, curbs, sidewalks, and other structures.
• Read and interpret construction plans, drawings, specifications, and layout measurements.
• Measure, cut, assemble, and install lumber, plywood, and other forming materials.
• Set forms accurately to required dimensions, elevations, grades, and alignment.
• Assist with the layout and preparation of concrete structures prior to placement.
• Install and secure formwork, bracing, stakes, supports, and other components to ensure forms remain stable during concrete placement.
• Assist with the installation of reinforcing steel, embeds, sleeves, and other materials as required.
• Inspect forms and work areas to ensure proper preparation and compliance with project specifications.
• Safely operate hand tools, power tools, saws, and other equipment used in concrete construction.
• Assist with concrete placement, stripping forms, cleanup, and other phases of concrete construction as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Work effectively with Foremen, Superintendents, laborers, finishers, and other crew members to meet daily production goals.
• Follow all company and job-site safety policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Foreman or Superintendent.
