Job summary

Skillit in Austin is seeking a concrete carpenter to join our commercial construction crew. You will build, set, brace, and strip formwork for foundations, slabs, walls, footings, and columns on site, reading blueprints and civil drawings to ensure precise layouts.

This hands-on role requires the ability to use hand and power tools safely, work outdoors, and collaborate with a team to keep projects on schedule.

About this roleJoin a commercial construction crew in Austin as a Concrete Carpenter. You will build, set, brace, and strip formwork for foundations, slabs, walls, footings, and columns on site. Work is hands-on, outdoors, and focused on quality, safety, and keeping projects on schedule. This role requires solid formwork skills, the ability to read civil and technical drawings, and a team-first attitude. Typical schedule is day shifts on commercial projects (M-F with possible overtime); experienced carpenters may lead small crews and take on more complex tasks and layout responsibility.What you'll doBuild, set, brace, and strip formwork for foundations, slabs, walls, footings, and columns to plans and specifications.Read and follow blueprints, civil drawings, layouts, grades, elevations, measurements, and project specs.Measure, mark, cut, assemble, and install lumber, plywood, and form hardware; set and check grades and alignments.Operate hand and power tools safely (saws, nail guns, drills, levels); maintain tools and basic equipment.Maintain a clean, safe work area, follow site safety procedures, report hazards, and communicate with crew and foreman; lead small crews on larger tasks when assigned.What we're looking forPrevious experience as a concrete carpenter or form builder on commercial construction projects.Proven ability building, setting, bracing, and stripping concrete formwork for slabs, walls, footings, columns, and related structures.Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, civil layouts, grades, elevations, and specifications.Skilled measuring, cutting, and layout work; ability to use hand and power tools accurately.Physically able to lift heavy materials, work at heights, and perform sustained manual labor in outdoor conditions; reliable transportation to Austin job sites.QualificationsOSHA 10-hour construction card preferred (or equivalent site safety training).First Aid/CPR certification preferred.Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to job sites; ability to travel locally as needed.Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.Spanish language skills are a plus.What we offerMedical, dental, and vision insurance options.Retirement plan enrollment (401(k) or similar) with employer contribution available.Paid time off and observed holidays; overtime opportunities on many projects.Site-provided PPE and safety equipment; tools provided or tool allowances on specific jobs.Hands-on training and clear advancement path to lead carpenter or foreman roles.Ready to apply?Build your profile.
