Job summary

Heart Hospital of Austin is seeking a Concierge to warmly greet patients, families and visitors, escorting them as needed and providing clerical support within a dynamic hospital environment.

You will work closely with clinical and administrative teams to ensure patient comfort, accurate information flow and timely updates to families, while upholding the hospital’s standards for professionalism and responsiveness.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Greets patients, families and visitors arriving at the hospital and escorts them as needed.
  • Performs clerical duties and maintains departmental records.
  • Wheels/assists with patient discharges and handles mail, deliveries and sign-in/out processes for visitors.
  • Collaborates with other departments to ensure patient and family needs are met.
  • Maintains awareness of wait times, Code colors, and disaster procedures.

Job Summary And Qualifications

JOB SUMMARY (Primary purpose of the position.)

The Concierge is responsible for greeting patients, families and visitors arriving at the hospital, escorting the patient to the appropriate area and performing clerical duties as needed. The Concierge works collaboratively with other departments to ensure that the patient’s needs are met. This position requires excellent customer service skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Primary Duties
  • Greets patients and families upon arrival at the hospital. Notifies registration of patient’s arrival at the hospital
  • Obtains cell phone numbers of waiting family members.
  • Perform lobby rounding to ensure patients are kept aware of their wait time expectations.
  • Writes descriptions of family members
  • Provides resource information as needed (food, lodging, stores, etc.)
  • Works with cardiologists and cardio-vascular surgeons in updating patients’ progress to family members.
  • Greets visitors and oversees visitor’s sign-in and sign-out processing -- (notifies the appropriate parties of their arrival and provides a visitor or vendor badge as needed).
  • Works collaboratively with other departments to ensure that the patient and the patients’ families’ needs are met.
  • Knows Code colors and assists per disaster policies.
  • Oversees Lobby - contacts necessary resources for all event occurrences.
  • Oversees distribution of newspapers, mail, deliveries to patient.
  • Handles the forwarding or return of patient mail.
  • Accepts deliveries and/or directs delivery personnel to the proper location.
  • Performs all necessary office and other duties opening and closing procedures as needed.
  • Maintains departmental records and keeps information sheets updated.
  • Wheels emergency patients to the emergency registration area (volunteers only).
  • Helps patient units with patient discharges (volunteers only).
  • Other duties as assigned.
