Job summary

Johnson County Park and Recreation District (JCPRD) is hiring for concessions team members who will serve as runners, at the register, or in the kitchen across multiple venues. You will handle orders, cash, prep light food, maintain safety standards, and ensure friendly customer service while adhering to health and safety rules; weekend/evening shifts and age 18+ required.

Locations include Mid-America complexes and Shawnee Mission facilities; training may provide ServSafe and alcohol

Qualifications

• Availability on weekends and evenings.
• ServSafe Food Handler Certification or equivalent will be required during training (paid by JCPRD).
• ServSafe Alcohol Certification or equivalent will be required during training (paid by JCPRD).
• Reference/background screening is required for all positions.

Responsibilities

• Assist in general duties as a runner, at the register, or in the kitchen.
• Take customer orders, operate the register, process transactions, and assist with fulfilling orders.
• Fulfilling orders, light food prep (nachos, pretzels), and restocking products.
• Ensure products are prepared safely and to Health Department standards; maintain kitchen cleanliness.
• Communicate clearly with staff and supervisors to ensure prompt, exceptional customer service.
• Practice proper food safety and comply with city/state laws when serving alcohol.
• Set up and clean concessions and surrounding areas.

Job Description

• Members of the JCPRD Concessions team will assist in general duties and serve in the role as a runner, at the register, or in the kitchen during any given shift.
• Register staff take customer orders and communicate them to other team members, operate the register to enter transactions, complete cash handling responsibilities and assist with fulfilling orders as needed.
• Runners are responsible for fulfilling orders and completing light food preparation for items such as nachos or pretzels and keeping all products stocked and ready for service.
• Kitchen duties include ensuring products sold are prepared safely and to Health Department and JCPRD standards, assist with fulfilling orders, and keeping the kitchen clean.
• All service roles must communicate clearly with fellow team members and supervisors during each shift to ensure customers receive prompt and exceptional customer service.
• Practice proper food safety.
• Serve alcohol while operating in compliance with the city and state law.
• Set-up and clean concessions and surrounding areas.

Scheduling and shift assignments and work location may be changed at any time, as required by business necessity.

Job Requirements

Minimum Job Requirements:

• Minimum Age: 18.
• Must be available Weekends and Evenings.
• If not Servsafe Food Handler Certified or equivalent, JCPRD will require during training period. (JCPRD paid)
• If not Servsafe Alcohol Certified or equivalent, JCPRD will require during training period. (JCPRD paid)

Physical, Environmental, and Special Working Conditions:

• Excessive standing and/or walking 80% of the time.
• Exposure to extreme temperatures.

• Safety-Sensitive Job.
• Locations- Mid-America Sports Complex, Mid-America West Sports Complex, Okun Field House, New Century Field House, Heritage Park Softball Complex, Heritage Park Soccer Complex, and Shawnee Mission School District Aquatic Center.
