Job summary

Mesabi Metallics is seeking an Electrician – Concentrator Operations / Maintenance to maintain, repair, and troubleshoot electrical systems within the Crusher and Concentrator operations. You will ensure equipment runs safely, efficiently, and in compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Reporting to the Operations Shift Leader – Plant Operator/Maintainer, you will perform electrical maintenance, read blueprints, install and repair equipment, and participate in CMMS workflows.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of experience in an industrial setting.
• Knowledge of processing facility operations in mining, concentrator/pellet operations, safety, maintenance, equipment, and staffing.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to work 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to safe work policies and procedures.
• Remove/install, assemble, maintain and overhaul plant electrical equipment and components.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and manuals.
• Perform preventative, predictive and routine electrical maintenance to maximize equipment efficiency.
• Install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain electrical production equipment (motors, drives, PLCs, cranes, lighting, shovels, trucks, cables).
• Read and analyze drawings and ensure safety isolation of circuits.
• Participate in safety, health and environmental programs.
• Maintain clean and safe work environment.
• Document malfunctions and unsafe conditions in CMMS.
• Understand CMMS process for work orders, parts, BOM, etc.

Position Summary:

Mesabi Metallics is looking for an Electrician – Concentrator Operations / Maintenance who will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of electrical systems and equipment within the Crusher and Concentrator operations. This role ensures that all electrical components operate efficiently, reliably, and in compliance with applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.

Reporting to the Operations Shift Leader – Plant Operator/Maintainer, the Electrician – Plant (Concentrator/Pellet) will be responsible for the following:

• Adhere to all safe work policies, practices and procedures;


• Responsible for removal/install, assembly, maintenance and (if necessary, overhaul) of the plant electrical equipment and components.


• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and manuals


• Perform preventative, predictive and routine electrical maintenance tasks ensuring maximum equipment efficiency and effectiveness.


• Install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain electrical production equipment such as motors, AC/DC drives, DC generators, master control circuits and devices, process control devices, programmable logic controllers, elevators, cranes, lighting systems, electric shovels/drills, diesel/electric trucks and loaders, and power cables.


• Read and analyze all types of drawings, circuits and wire drawings while considering all safety precautions and the proper isolation of circuits.


• Participates in safety, health and environmental programs


• Maintains a clean and safe work environment.


• Recognize and document malfunctions, irregular operations and unsafe conditions in CMMS system;


• Clean up during and after job assignments to maintain a clean and safe work environment;


• Maintain positive attitude and work ethic while performing duties;


• Learn and understand the CMMS process involved in their daily function: work orders, parts ordering, looking up BOM and materials, etc.

Skills and Qualifications:

• At least 4 years’ experience in an industrial environment.


• Working knowledge of processing facility operations in the Mining industry including concentrator/Pelletoperations, safety, maintenance, equipment, and staff utilization.


• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills


• Comfortable with a fast-paced environment.


• Excellent work ethic.


• Able to work 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekend and holidays

Education:

• Completion of 2 year technical program.


• Electrician Journeyman’s license

Physical Requirements:

• Frequent heavy lifting, pushing, and pulling of components up to 50 lbs independently; team lifts for components over 50 lbs.


• Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, in pits, and under raised equipment (with proper blocking and safety protocols).


• Extended standing, kneeling, crouching, and working overhead throughout the shift.


• Ability to work safely in outdoor conditions year-round including extreme cold (−30°F) and heat (100°F+).

Salary:

• $31.00 per hour


• Overtime: Paid at 1.5x the regular hourly rate for hours worked over 40 in a workweek (Sunday–Saturday)


• Winners Circle Incentive: A biweekly incentive calculated as a percentage of biweekly wages (base pay + overtime), paid in the same paycheck and tied to the production of safe, quality tonnes. Guaranteed at the 70% target level through September 30, 2026 (Construction Phase); calculated against achievable, hourly-measured production targets during the Ramp Up Phase (through March 31, 2027); and tied to biweekly production targets thereafter (Optimization Phase).


• Triple Crown Incentive: A discretionary annual profit-sharing opportunity of up to $22,750, with a portion tied to safety and ESG performance. Paid only during outstanding company performance years; full plan details are shared before the first performance period.$110,000 - $145,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
