Job summary

BCforward is seeking a Computer Vision Engineer-Embedded to design and deploy high-performance CV/ML solutions on resource-constrained edge devices in Sunnyvale, CA. You will bridge camera hardware, software, and AI frameworks.

You will optimize on-device workloads for latency, memory and power, integrate with Android camera frameworks, and collaborate with hardware and software teams to bring AI features onto production devices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/EE/CE or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong programming skills in Python, C, and C++.
• Experience deploying ML models on edge-optimized frameworks (TensorFlow Lite, ONNX Runtime, PyTorch Edge).
• Familiarity with the Android platform, camera or multimedia subsystems.
• Solid understanding of computer vision fundamentals, DSP, image processing, or camera architectures.
• Experience with performance-constrained or embedded systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and deploy computer vision and ML pipelines on edge hardware.

BCforward is currently seeking a highly motivated Computer Vision Engineer-Embedded for an onsite opportunity at Sunnyvale, CA

Position Title: Computer Vision Engineer-Embedded

Location: Onsite, Sunnyvale, CA

Anticipated Start Date: ASAP

Job Type: Onsite

Pay Range: $75/hr.- $80/hr.

Job Summary:

We are looking for an Embedded CV/ML Engineer to develop and deploy high-performance computer vision and machine learning solutions directly on resource-constrained edge devices. You will work at the intersection of computer vision, machine learning, embedded software, cameras, and hardware acceleration. The role involves optimizing on-device AI workloads for latency, memory, power, and throughput while integrating CV/ML capabilities into camera and multimedia systems.

What You'll Do

• Design and deploy computer vision and ML pipelines on edge hardware.
• Optimize multiple concurrent ML workloads to maximize throughput and minimize latency.
• Integrate edge-AI algorithms with Android camera and multimedia frameworks.
• Work closely with software and hardware teams to connect camera sensor systems with NPUs, GPUs, and DSPs.
• Optimize ML inference for memory, power consumption, execution time, and overall device performance.
• Develop and optimize low-level software using C and C++.
• Use Python for ML development, automation, testing, and tooling.
• Profile systems to identify memory, scheduling, latency, and performance bottlenecks.
• Develop and optimize real-time computer vision pipelines for resource-constrained devices.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers, camera engineers, ML engineers, and software teams to bring AI features onto production devices.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong programming skills in Python, C, and C++.
• Experience deploying ML models using edge-optimized frameworks such as:
• TensorFlow Lite
• ONNX Runtime
• PyTorch Edge
• Familiarity with the Android platform, particularly camera or multimedia subsystems.
• Strong understanding of computer vision fundamentals, DSP, image processing, or camera architectures.
• Experience working with performance-constrained or embedded systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with the Android Camera Framework for capturing, processing, routing, or transforming real-time image streams.
• Experience with Camera2, Camera HAL, Android multimedia, or related camera technologies.
• Experience optimizing ML models using quantization, pruning, model compression, or hardware-specific compilation.
• Experience deploying models to NPUs, GPUs, DSPs, or other hardware accelerators.
• Experience developing low-latency, real-time edge AI applications such as:
• Image restoration
• Biometric verificationPerception
• On-device AI
• Experience with hardware-constrained vision pipelines and multi-threaded/concurrent processing.
• Experience debugging low-level software using hardware/software profiling tools.
• Experience analyzing memory, power, scheduling, and latency bottlenecks.
• Previous experience at Meta or another major consumer-device/AI company is a plus.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate has a combination of strong C/C++ programming, computer vision/ML expertise, embedded systems experience, and edge-AI deployment experience. Candidates with hands-on Android camera, hardware acceleration, and on-device ML optimization experience are especially relevant.
