COLSA Corporation in San Diego, CA is seeking a Computer Test Operator to join our team, supporting testing and basic troubleshooting of computer and communications systems. The role includes writing test procedures and reports, and occasional domestic travel (1–2 weeks per year).

The position offers an alternate work schedule with nine-hour days, an eight-hour Friday, and every other Friday off, and opportunities to work with experienced technicians on diverse projects.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years of experience in systems, software, and hardware testing and troubleshooting.
• U.S. Citizenship required and ability to qualify for SECRET clearance.
• General knowledge of computers, networking, or communication systems.
• Ability to follow instructions, work safely, and pay attention to detail.
• Travel 1–2 weeks per year (domestic).
• Team player with good verbal and written communication.
• Working knowledge of Windows and desktop applications.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine software and hardware testing using provided test tools.
• Performs routine maintenance and upgrades.
• Follows established test procedures and scripts to validate performance of software/hardware.
• Reports testing failures, faults, or inconsistencies.
• Records test results and assists in preparing technical reports.
• Completes pre- and post-test write-ups and correspondence with test leadership.
• Performs basic troubleshooting of software/hardware issues.
• Assists senior technicians with more complicated test scenarios.
• Complies with all operational, security, and safety guidelines.

Job description

COLSA is seeking a Computer Test Operator to join our team in San Diego, California, supporting the testing and basic troubleshooting of computer and communications systems. The position also includes writing test procedures and reports, occasional domestic travel (typically 1–2 weeks per year), occasional 2nd/3rd shift testing, and other related tasks in support of the team.This position follows an alternate work schedule consisting of nine-hour days, an eight-hour Friday, and every other Friday off.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions)

• Performs routine software and hardware testing of computer systems using provided test tools.
• Performs routine maintenance and upgrades as required.
• Follows established test procedures and scripts to validate the performance of software and hardware.
• Reports testing failures, faults, or inconsistencies as instructed.
• Records test results, updates documentation, and assists in preparing technical reports.
• Completes all required documentation, pre and post-test write-ups, and correspondence with test leadership.
• Performs basic troubleshooting of software and hardware issues.
• Assists senior technicians with more complicated test scenarios and special projects.
• Complies with all operational, security, and safety guidelines and procedures.

Required Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2 or more years of experience in systems, software, and hardware testing and troubleshooting
• U.S. Citizenship required and the ability to qualify for security clearance at the SECRET level
• General knowledge and understanding of computers, networking, or communication systems
• Ability to follow instructions, work safely, and pay close attention to detail
• Ability to travel 1 to 2 weeks per year as required (domestic travel only)
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Working knowledge of Windows and desktop applications

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior military experience
• Knowledge of Tactical Data Links (TDL)
