Title: Computer Support Specialist - Intermediate
Location: Austin, TX
Citizenship/Clearance Requirement: US Citizen with an active Secret Clearance required. This position supports a government contract.
Job Summary
The Computer Support Specialist assesses and troubleshoots computer support problems, applying knowledge of software and hardware to resolve user issues. Responsibilities include assisting users with software or equipment, diagnosing problems, setting up or repairing devices, training users, and managing support requests via remote tools and ticketing systems. Site visits and account management are also required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Deploy government-provided office automation software as per Army Golden Master standards.
- Provide on-site support for NIPRNET and SIPRNET users, prioritizing command staff and critical units, and report outages.
- Resolve desktop issues remotely, manage accounts, and assist with security updates.
- Install, configure, troubleshoot, and repair desktops, handheld devices, and printers.
- Identify and escalate network problems impacting users, working with Tier II/III support.
- Troubleshoot WiFi, broadband devices, and VPN connectivity.
- Monitor networks proactively and respond to alerts.
- Maintain daily reports and escalate unresolved issues.
- Handle Helpdesk calls, record work orders, and provide technical support.
- Configure and repair Windows laptops/desktops and associated peripherals.
- Support MS Office applications, NCES products, Jabber IM, WiFi, AirCard, and CAC readers.
- Manage Active Directory objects and connect remotely using tools like SCCM.
- Assist in briefings and events with collaborative tools such as Google Earth, DCO Connect, Jabber, Portals, and alert systems.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- High school/GED
- 3+ years of PC maintenance experience
- IT I level certification per AR 25-2 and IAT II certifications per DoD 8570.01-M; BBP 05-PR-M-0002
- MS Desktop Support Technician or equivalent preferred
- Active Secret Clearance
Knowledge:
- Information security principles and practices
- Applications, PC software, Windows OS (7, 10), MS Office, Outlook, Internet browsers
- Citrix, virtualization, TCP/IP networking

Physical and Security Requirements
Work involves sitting, standing, typing, reading screens, and lifting up to 30 pounds. Must have mobility for bending, reaching, kneeling. Position requires an active DoD Secret security clearance.
