Taleo in Memphis seeks a Computer Software Specialist 4 to analyze information system requirements and determine software solutions delivering required capabilities. You will be highly accountable for end results and coordinate efforts across teams.
The role involves advising on developments, guiding software applications, and collaborating with vendor representatives while staying current with industry changes in the software field.
JOB PURPOSE Computer Software Specialist 4 will apply advanced level principles/concepts in the analysis of information system requirements to determine software that will provide system capabilities required, extremely accountable for end results.
Investigate most highly complex/diversified requests for information system studies, determine their merit and recommend acceptance, rejection or an alternate solution. Confer with data processing and managerial personnel to obtain data and determine information requirements; extremely accountable for end results. Perform and/or coordinate studies for cost effective solutions to data base and communication software requirements of the Division. Analyze and evaluate data; recommend modification of existing/ purchased systems or development of new systems to meet information requirements. Monitor and coordinate new system developments to ensure maximum utilization and efficiency of software capability and inclusion in longrange planning. Provide expert guidance and assistance concerning software applications and system developments and operations. Serve as consultant with vendor representatives on software problems. Keep abreast of changes within the computer software field. Assist in the development and maintenance of Division programming standards and training of certain software/data processing personnel. Perform other duties as directed.

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Math, Information Systems, Business, or a related field, with a concentration in Information Technology OR Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of l2 hours college accredited courses in programming or computer-related fields with six (6) years of Division experience in database, computer hardware/software, mainframe, networking programming or systems analysis skills depending on departmental need.

Must meet proficiency requirements. Must have a 3 rating for 2 consecutive years as a Computer Software Specialist 3 or a 4 rating in last year as Computer Software Specialist 3. (External candidates must have at least 7 years of equivalent experience and meet proficiency requirements).
Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience and be proficient in one of the following major Data Base Management Operating utilities/Screen Generators/programming and/or Data Communication Systems depending on expertise required:
Must have an occupationally significant combination of job knowledge, ability to plan organize and implement the data processing requirements of MLGW; written and verbal communications skills; ability to interface operations and informational needs of all departments/areas; ability to make decisions and resolve problems based on knowledge of existing computer software and potential use by MLGW; leadership, custom relations and resource management skills.
Works inside majority of the time. Requires sedentary work involving standing or walking for brief periods, exerting up to 20 pounds of force on a regular basis; and some dexterity in operating office equipment. The position requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing and speaking abilities.
