About the Role

As a Computer Scientist, the incumbent will work under closer supervision performing assignments and completing training. At the full-performance level, you will be expected to

In this role you will:

• Assist in the development of computer hardware and software for computer-based systems.
• Assist in the development of test programs and diagnostic procedures for computer hardware and software.
• Assist in identifying host computer requirements to produce or maintain computer command and control systems.
• Evaluate system security requirements to aid in the design of a system that will resist established or projected threats.
• Analyze output data to ensure accuracy of computer software and compliance of hardware operations with design specifications.

To be eligible for consideration you must meet the definition of as defined below:

Bachelor's degree (or higher) in engineering. To be acceptable, the program must:

• Lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
• Include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress‑strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. (Degree must be completed by June 2026.)
