Job summary

American University is seeking a Teaching Assistant (TA) for Computer Science courses. The TA will support grading, help design assignments, and conduct office hours, while assisting with in-class labs. Responsibilities will be coordinated with the assigned instructor to align expectations and schedules.

This is a student role under university policy regarding duties and assessment. Eligible candidates are currently enrolled AU students.

Summary:

A Teaching Assistant (TA) for courses within the Computer ScienceDepartment’s duties may vary, but can include assistance withgrading, designing assignments, conducting office hours, andassisting with in-class labs. Please discuss these with yourassigned instructor to establish the expectations of the role and aschedule of working hours that is suitable for you both. As amatter of university policy, you are not expected to provide finalgrades or assessments for student work, but you may assist withgrading by providing your feedback to the instructor.

Essential Functions:

• Assist with grading.


• Design assignments.


• Conduct office hours.


• Assist with in-class labs.


• Other duties assigned.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

• Part-time.


• 5 hours per week.

Salary Range:

• $18.40 per hour.
