Job summary

UCNJ Union College of Union County in New Jersey seeks a part-time instructor to deliver courses aligned with catalog descriptions and syllabi. You will engage students with interactive teaching, use library resources, and integrate writing into coursework, while maintaining records and meeting reporting deadlines.

The role requires a Master’s degree, some teaching experience, and the ability to teach undergraduates. Certification or licensure as needed is also considered.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses as assigned in accordance with the course description in the catalog and the approved course syllabus.
  • Deliver instruction in line with the schedule of classes, using interactive approaches, technologies, and methods when possible.
  • Incorporate an appreciation of diverse lifestyles, cultures, and national perspectives into course content.
  • Use the library as part of course work and apply writing as an instructional method.
  • Utilize computing and other academic technologies in courses when possible.
  • Attend and meet all scheduled class meetings.
  • Notify the Division Dean/Assistant Dean of absences in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate grade and attendance records and submit required reports to the Dean/Assistant Dean or Student Records Office.
  • Submit grades by the published deadlines.
  • Participate in assessment of learning outcomes and use assessment results in course planning.
  • Plan in advance to ensure availability of supplies, textbooks, and classroom equipment needed for successful delivery of assigned classes.
  • Submit progress reports on students for counseling, athletic oversight, and record keeping purposes, and discuss any concerns requiring special attention with counselors and other appropriate personnel.
  • Follow College policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate willingness to teach in person and/or be certified to teach online.
  • Provide for out-of-class interaction with students.
  • Be willing to use alternative educational delivery systems and instructional techniques.

Work Environment and Physical Demands
