Job description

Position: Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Computer Science

Office/Department: Computer Science

Grove City College announces a regular full-time faculty opening in the Department of Computer Science. The department currently has six full-time faculty, offering three degrees to our vibrant, highly motivated undergraduate community: an ABET-accredited B.S. in Computer Science, a B.S. in Computer Programming, and a B.S. in Data Science. The department also supports a B.S. in Computer Engineering program in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. The CS department has approximately 140 undergraduate students, with a majority in the B.S. in Computer Science program. The College is located north of the high-tech hub of Pittsburgh and is a member of the Pittsburgh Technology Council, a consortium of several hundred technology companies in the area. Several student and faculty projects involve collaboration with those companies.

Responsibilities include teaching a variety of lower-level and upper-level undergraduate computer science and engineering courses, guiding undergraduate student research projects, advising students, and developing innovative pedagogy and curriculum. Faculty members are expected to teach a 4/4 load.

A Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field is preferred, although candidates with a master's degree who are working towards a terminal degree or have industry or research experience will be considered. Preference will be given to those who have a strong record of effective undergraduate teaching as well as scholarship or industry experience within the field. Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications.

Strong applicants will be considered in any area, particularly including cybersecurity, DevOps, game design, or embedded systems. A courtesy appointment in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering will be considered for appropriately qualified candidates.

A strong, demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the Statement of Faith and Christian mission and vision of Grove City College is required.
