Job summary

FCB Banks is seeking a Computer Operations Specialist to oversee daily operation, monitoring, and support of the Bank’s computer systems. You will coordinate operations, monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and work with vendors to resolve problems.

Responsibilities include software releases, disaster recovery, and maintaining system documentation. Strong communication and teamwork are essential in this role within Swansea Data Operations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree or technical training in information technology preferred.
  • One to three years of experience in computer operations or related technical role preferred.
  • Previous experience in a financial institution or core/mainframe environment preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and relevant work experience will be considered.

  • Collaborate with software and hardware vendors to identify and resolve issues.

ABOUT US: FCB Banks has been family owned and managed for more than three generations. Our original banks opened in New Baden and Albers in 1901 and customers quickly associated FCB with quality service, competitive rates, and personal customer care. These qualities became the pillars of our business when First Collinsville Bank open ed in 1990 and we began expanding throughout the area. We streamlined and simplified banking operations and officially changed our name to FCB Banks in 2017. Today we have seventeen locations in sixteen wonderful towns serving customers in Illinois and Missouri. JOB SUMMARY: The Computer Operations Specialist is responsible for the daily operation, monitoring, and support of the Bank’s computer systems and related technology infrastructure. This position coordinates scheduled computer operations, monitors system performance, troubleshoots processing and system errors, maintains operational documentation, and works with internal departments and external vendors to resolve system issues. The Computer Operations Specialist also assists with software releases, system maintenance, disaster recovery, testing, security access support, and research of technology products and service enhancements.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Troubleshoot system problems, processing errors, network issues, and data communication issues in coordination with user departments, management, and applicable vendors.
  • Work with software and hardware vendors to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve system and processing issues.
  • Schedule and coordinate system tasks and processing activities to maximize system availability and online response time while minimizing disruption and downtime.
  • Coordinate and schedule daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual, and year-end computer processing and operational activities.
  • Review changes to new and existing programs to ensure operating and run instructions are accurate, computer, and properly documented.
  • Review, schedule, test, and load approved software releases, updates, and system enhancements.
  • Document, track, and follow up on system errors and incidents that result in processing interruptions or downtime.
  • Establish and perform routine preventive maintenance activities for applicable computer equipment and systems.
  • Maintain hardware and software inventories, system media and libraries, and an adequate inventory of computer and technology supplies.
  • Assist in maintaining, testing, and documenting disaster recovery and business continuity procedures related to computer systems and operations.
  • Participate in scheduled disaster recovery testing and assist in identifying and addressing issues identified through testing.
  • Research new technology products, system capabilities, and potential enhancements to existing production software and provide findings to management.
  • Train and provide operational and technical support to other staff members as assigned.
  • Assist with administration and support of system security and user access measures in accordance with established Bank procedures.
  • Process research and information requests accurately and within established timeframes.
  • Provide backup and support for mailroom functions as needed.
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable Bank policies, procedures, systems, and operational requirements.
  • Perform other duties, functions, and projects as assigned by management.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to develop and maintain clear operating procedures and technical documentation.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical issues effectively with employees, management, and external vendors.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple scheduled and time-sensitive processes.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively supporting departmental and Bank-wide technology initiatives.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately safeguard sensitive Bank, customer, employee, and system information.
  • Ability to adapt to system changes, software enhancements, and evolving technology requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree or technical training in informational technology, computer science, computer operations, or a related field preferred.
  • One to three years of previous experience in computer operations, information technology, system support, or related technical role preferred.
  • Previous experience in a financial institution or other environment utilizing core/mainframe processing system preferred.
  • Previous experience with system processing, software installations or updates, hardware support disaster recovery, or technical troubleshooting preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant work experience will be considered.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Work is primarily performed in a professional office and compute operations environment.
  • Regularly utilizes computers, monitors, printers, peripheral equipment, telephones, and other standard office and technology equipment.
  • Requires prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer, with occasional standing, walking, bending, reaching, and stooping.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift, carry, move, or position computer equipment, supplies, boxes, and other materials weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • May require work in computer/server areas with exposure to equipment noise and varying temperatures.
  • Regular business hours are required; however, occasional early morning, evening, weekend, or extended hours may be necessary for system processing, software releases, maintenance, disaster recovery testing, year-end processing, or system issues.
  • May require occasional travel between Bank locations for system support, equipment needs, training, or other business purposes.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is required.
