About the Role
We are seeking an experienced CNC Machine Operator with hands-on expertise operating Weiler E70 and E90 CNC lathes to join our Houston, TX manufacturing team on-site. This role is critical to producing precision-machined components that meet tight tolerances for [industry — e.g., oilfield services, energy, aerospace, industrial equipment]. The ideal candidate has a strong background in CNC turning, setup, and program adjustment, with a proven track record on Weiler equipment specifically.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and monitor Weiler E70 and E90 CNC lathes to produce precision-machined parts to specification
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders to determine machining sequences, tooling, and fixtures
- Load programs, make offset adjustments, and troubleshoot minor program or tooling issues during production runs
- Perform in-process quality checks using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, height gauges) to verify parts meet tolerance requirements
- Select, install, and adjust cutting tools, fixtures, and workholding to optimize cycle times and part quality
- Monitor machine performance and perform routine maintenance to minimize downtime
- Identify and report material defects, tooling wear, or machine malfunctions to supervisors
- Maintain accurate production logs, quality records, and documentation per company and customer requirements
- Follow all safety protocols, PPE requirements, and housekeeping standards (5S) on the shop floor
- Collaborate with quality control, engineering, and other operators to resolve production issues and improve processes
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2–3+ years of CNC machine operation experience, with direct hands-on experience running Weiler E70 and/or E90 lathes
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and GD&T
- Working knowledge of CNC controls, offsets, and basic program editing (Siemens/Fanuc or equivalent control experience a plus)
- Proficiency with precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges)
- Understanding of cutting speeds, feeds, and tooling selection for various materials (steel, stainless, alloy, etc.)
- Ability to lift up to [50 lbs], stand for extended periods, and work in a shop floor environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
- Reliable attendance and ability to work on-site in Houston, TX
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in [oilfield/energy/aerospace/precision manufacturing] machining environments
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality systems
- Experience with large-diameter or heavy-duty turning applications
