Verto People Ltd. is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer/CNC Machinist/Tool Maker for a senior hands-on role in Austin, TX. The position involves programming, setting up, and running 3- and 5-axis mills and lathes to produce precision aerospace/defense components.

You will work from STEP models and engineering drawings using Mastercam, manage tooling and fixtures, and mentor junior machinists while ensuring first-article and in-process inspections meet tight tolerances.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience operating CNC milling/turning in prototype manufacturing.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, including GD&T.
• Experience using precision measuring instruments and applying inspection techniques.
• Must qualify as a U.S. Person under ITAR regulations.
• High-level Mastercam experience or equivalent CAM software for 3-axis programming from solid models.

A CNC Programmer / CNC Machinist / Tool Maker is required for a senior hands-on machining role producing precision components for aerospace, defense and robotics applications. This position suits an experienced CNC Programmer who can program, set up and run CNC mills and lathes independently while taking ownership of complex parts, fixtures, tooling and inspection.

The CNC Programmer will work with STEP models, engineering drawings and Mastercam to produce accurate components across a range of materials. This role also involves first-article inspection, production queue management and supporting less experienced machinists on the shop floor.

The CNC Programmer / CNC Machinist / Tool Maker Role:

• Program 3-axis and 5-axis CNC mills and lathes from STEP models and engineering drawings using Mastercam.
• Set up, operate and run CNC milling and turning equipment across materials including aluminum, steel, stainless steel, titanium, Inconel and engineering plastics.
• Develop efficient toolpaths, select tooling and optimize feeds, speeds and cycle times.
• Design and fabricate custom fixtures, jigs and workholding solutions for complex or non-standard parts.
• Carry out first-article and in-process inspection using precision measuring equipment, including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, surface plates and CMM.
• Maintain CAM files and programs with clear revision control.
• Manage work orders across multiple concurrent jobs to support production schedules.
• Mentor less experienced machinists and support improvements in setup, machining processes, cycle times and first-pass yield.
• 5+ years of experience operating CNC milling and/or turning equipment in a prototype manufacturing environment.
• High-level Mastercam experience, or equivalent CAM software experience, for 3-axis programming from solid models.
• Journeyman-level machining skills across multiple materials, setups and machine configurations.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, including GD&T.
• Experience using precision measuring instruments and applying inspection techniques.
• Experience designing and fabricating fixtures and workholding devices.
• Must qualify as a U.S. Person under ITAR regulations.
