Job summary

Louisiana Delta Community College invites applicants for a 9-month faculty position in Computer Science. The role includes delivering engaging instruction across face-to-face, hybrid, online and laboratory formats, developing labs and curricula, and advising students.

The candidate will align courses with workforce needs, participate in program review and accreditation efforts, and contribute to student success and development initiatives within Academic Affairs.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, or closely related discipline; OR
  • Master's degree in another discipline with at least 18 graduate semester hours in CS/IT/IS/Cybersecurity or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, inclusive instruction across face-to-face, hybrid, online and lab formats.
  • Develop curricula, labs and assessments aligned with curriculum and workforce needs.
  • Provide academic advising and student mentoring; support recruitment and retention efforts.
  • Participate in program review, accreditation and continuous improvement initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Instruction & Student Learning
  • Deliver engaging, inclusive, and student-centered instruction.
  • Utilize instructional technologies and active learning strategies.
  • Teach assigned courses in face-to-face, hybrid, online, and laboratory formats.
  • Prepare and maintain course syllabi aligned with approved curriculum.
  • Evaluate student learning using multiple assessment methods.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress.
  • Foster an environment that supports student success and academic integrity.
Curriculum & Program Development
  • Participate in curriculum development and revision.
  • Develop laboratory exercises and hands-on learning experiences.
  • Align curriculum with workforce needs and industry certifications.
  • Integrate emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, into instruction.
  • Assist with assessment of student learning outcomes.
  • Participate in program review and continuous improvement initiatives.
Student Support & Engagement
  • Provide academic advising and mentoring.
  • Support recruitment, orientation, and retention efforts.
  • Assist students with transfer and career planning.
  • Refer students to appropriate academic support services.
  • Encourage participation in internships, competitions, and student organizations.
Professional Development
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to remain current in teaching practices, business trends, and instructional technology
  • Participate in relevant professional organizations, conferences, and training opportunities
  • Contribute to institutional initiatives such as leadership development programs, accreditation efforts, or system-level activities
College & Community Service
  • Serve on departmental and college committees and contribute to shared governance
  • Support institutional initiatives, including program development and strategic planning
  • Participate in community outreach, workforce partnerships, recruitment events, advising and registration, and commencement
  • Assist with grant-funded initiatives and special projects.
  • Represent the college in professional and community organizations as appropriate
  • Practices and promotes LDCC institutional and cultural standards of practice.
Other Duties
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director or Dean to support the mission of the college
Required Education
MINIMUM OUALIFICIATIONS
  • Master's degree in Computer Science. Computer Information Systems. Information Technology. Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, or closely related discipline; OR
  • Master's degree in another discipline with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Three or more years of successful college teaching experience
  • Three or more years of relevant IT industry experience
  • Experience teaching online or hybrid courses
  • Experience with Canvas or another Learning Management System
  • Experience preparing students for industry certifications
  • Active industry certifications such as CompTIA, Cisco, Microsoft, AWS, Azure, Oracle, ISC2, VMware, Red Hat, or equivalent
  • Experience in artificial intelligence, cloud technologies, cybersecurity, or software development
  • Demonstrated commitment to student success and workforce development
