Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking Drafting Interns to revise drawings and prepare basic component drawings from verbal or written instructions or sketches. Interns will plot drawings and learn drafting standards while gaining exposure to Transmission & Distribution and other market segments.

You must be enrolled in a CAD/Engineering Tech related program with solid academic standing and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Pursuit of certificate, Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in CAD, Engineering Technology, or related field.
• Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program related to the work.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
• Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
• Active involvement in campus, community, or volunteer activities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Description

Our Drafting Interns are responsible for revising existing drawings and preparingdrawings of basic components from explicit verbal or written instructions or detailed sketches. This position successfully plots drawings; learns and follows company and client drafting standards and procedures; learns the practices of a selected discipline. Other duties as assigned.

Transmission & Distribution

The Transmission & Distribution group is responsible for the planning and design of electrical transmission projects in power delivery, including overhead transmission, underground transmission, distribution systems, substation design, telecommunication & network engineering, pipelines, renewable power integration, security, grid modernization and more.

Qualifications

• Pursuit of certificate, Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Computer-Aided Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related degree.
• Currently enrolled, and in good standing, in a post-secondary education and/or technical certificate program in a field related to the work done in the department.
• Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
• Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
• Actively involved in campus, community or other volunteer activities or organizations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Basic knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office programs, including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Self-motivated and eager learner, aptitude to grow and develop within the field.
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without requiring future sponsorship for employment visa status.
