Entry-Level Land Surveying CAD Technician
P3 Civil is a multidisciplinary firm specializing in civil engineering, landscape architecture, and land surveying. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Land Surveying CAD Technician to join our team and support a variety of land surveying, land development, and site design projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is beginning a career in CAD drafting, land surveying, geomatics, or a related technical field. The successful candidate will work closely with experienced land surveyors, engineers, and other design professionals while developing practical skills in survey drafting, field data processing, and computer-aided design.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation and revision of boundary surveys, topographic surveys, existing conditions plans, and other land surveying documents
- Create and modify survey drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D
- Process and incorporate survey field data, including points, linework, elevations, and field measurements, into CAD drawings
- Assist with the preparation of plats, easement exhibits, right-of-way exhibits, and other survey-related documents
- Assist with the development of existing ground surfaces, contours, and digital terrain models using survey data
- Organize and manage survey points, point groups, and survey databases in Civil 3D
- Assist with plotting property boundaries, easements, rights-of-way, and other survey features using field data and available records
- Read and interpret survey plats, deeds, legal descriptions, recorded maps, and other property records
- Prepare and maintain accurate CAD drawings in accordance with company standards and applicable surveying requirements
- Assist licensed surveyors and other team members with survey calculations, drafting, and project documentation
- Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and consistency with field data and project requirements
- Coordinate with survey field crews to clarify field notes, measurements, and collected data
- Maintain organized electronic project files, survey records, and CAD documentation
- Learn and apply applicable surveying standards, CAD procedures, and project requirements
- Collaborate with engineers, landscape architects, and other members of the design team to provide accurate survey information for land development projects
- Perform other project-related duties as assigned
Experience & Qualifications
- Entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply
- Degree, certificate, coursework, or training in land surveying, CAD drafting, geomatics, civil engineering technology, or a related field is a plus
- Basic knowledge of AutoCAD required; experience with Civil 3D is preferred
- Previous internship, school, or work experience involving land surveying, CAD drafting, survey fieldwork, or civil engineering is a plus
- Familiarity with survey equipment, field data collection, or survey data processing is a plus
- Ability to read and understand basic survey drawings, plats, and technical documents
- Basic understanding of geometry, coordinate systems, measurements, and mathematical calculations
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate work
- Ability and willingness to learn new software, surveying standards, and technical processes
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Self-motivated, dependable, and willing to take direction from experienced professionals
- Ability to work independently when appropriate and contribute effectively as part of a team
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A positive attitude and genuine interest in developing a career in land surveying and land development
