Job summary

Kindred Hospital Central Tampa is seeking a CT Technologist to perform a variety of specialized tasks in CT imaging, ensuring patient safety and high-quality diagnostic images. This role supports radiologists, trains new staff, and contributes to interventional CT procedures as needed.

The candidate should have ARRT certifications in Radiography and/or CT, BLS, and a minimum of one year of diagnostic imaging experience.

Responsibilities

  • Operate CT scanners and related equipment per radiation safety procedures.
  • Schedule procedures and assist with clerical tasks.
  • Dispense oral contrast for CT scans.
  • Load and operate contrast media injections.
  • Care for the psychological and physical needs of patients undergoing CT scans.
  • Adhere to protocol scan lengths to optimize patient dose.
  • Position patients and verify orientation parameters.
  • Aim for Iso centering to optimize dose and image quality.
  • Minimize radiation exposure while maintaining diagnostic quality.

Description

Kindred Hospital Central Tampa is a 102-bed long-term acute care hospital offering the same in-depth care you would receive in a traditional hospital, but for an extended recovery period; featuring five negative pressure rooms. We partner with your physician and offer 24-hour clinical care seven days a week so you can start your journey to wellness. We are located in North Central Tampa about five miles outside downtown.

Job Summary

Performs a variety of specialized tasks involved in the performance of CT scans.

Essential Functions
  • Perform complex specialized tasks associated with the operation of CT scanners and related equipment in accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures. Position patients of CT scans using immobilization and protective equipment, as necessary.
  • Schedule patients for procedures, assist with clerical functions.
  • Dispense oral contrast to patients for CT scans.
  • Load and operate power injections for contrast media administration.
  • Provide care for the psychological and physical needs of patients for CT scans.
  • Adheres to protocol scan length to optimize patient dose.
  • Confirms patient position matches the selected scanning orientation parameters.
  • Utilizes Iso centering of the anatomy of interest to optimize dose.
  • Optimizes technical factors to minimize radiation exposure to the patient while maintaining diagnostic image quality.
  • Uses radiation shielding devices.
  • Evaluate CT scans for technical quality, collate processed images in sequence of exposure and appropriately label.
  • Records patient dose and administration of contrast medication as per policy.
  • Document appropriate charging of procedures and supplies.
  • Maintain accurate patient records.
  • Assist radiologist with interventional CT procedures if applicable.
  • Provide orientation and training for new CT technologists.

Qualifications
Education
  • Graduate of an accredited institution in Medical Radiography and/or completed and passed an approved course in Computed Tomography.
Licenses/Certifications
  • ARRT certification/registration in Radiography R.T.(R) and/or computed tomography R.T.(CT) and meet qualification required by the state working in.
  • Current BLS certification.
Experience
  • One year of experience in diagnostic radiology or other imaging modality preferred.
