Job Summary

Performs a variety of procedures applying ionizing radiation and conducts CT scans as directed. Communicates effectively with physicians and other healthcare personnel.

Essential Functions

• Adheres to Prisma Health's values: Inspire health. Serve with compassion. Be the difference.
• Identifies patients and procedures, communicates with nursing or physicians regarding patient needs, including IV sedation or biopsies.
• Prepares and positions patients accurately for CT procedures, following protocols for optimal imaging.
• Ensures timely completion of studies and proper documentation, including archiving films and notifying radiologists.
• Maintains a clean and stocked environment, prepares supplies, and ensures proper technique in IV contrast injections.
• Proficiently operates imaging equipment, including 3D imaging and multiplanar reconstruction.
• Responds appropriately to emergency situations and codes.
• Explains procedures to patients and families, obtains necessary clinical information, and communicates delays.
• Trains and assists coworkers and students, and supports the workflow in the CT department.
• Completes all required documentation, charges, and forms, and verifies study accuracy before archiving.
• Collaborates with radiologists to determine appropriate protocols and performs procedures accordingly.
• Maintains competency in all aspects of CT imaging and performs point-of-care testing as needed.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibility

• This is a non-management role reporting to a supervisor, manager, or director.

Minimum Requirements

• Certification: Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
• Experience: No prior experience required.

Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses

• ARRT Registration and certification in CT
• CPR certification
• SCQRSA License

• Knowledge of office equipment (fax, copier)
• Data entry proficiency
