Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking a Computational Scientist to provide computational solutions for biological and clinical researchers, leveraging high performance computing and GPU-based workflows.

You will enable data analysis, visualization, and large-scale storage, supporting the Computational Psychiatry Laboratory led by Dr. Abigail Ortiz. This role focuses on transforming mood disorders research through continuous physiological data from wearable tech.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a field related to biomedical and computational research.
• Experience with HPC and/or demonstrated success in publishing computational science results.
• Master's degree or PhD preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support faculty and research staff in adapting computational strategies to the domain-specific needs of the research lab.
• Work with HPC cluster, parallel file systems, high-speed interconnects, GPU-based computing, and database servers.
• Develop software and methods to explore, analyze and visualize data from biological and biomedical data sources (genomic, imaging, protein structure).
• Participate in the design and execution of collaborative research studies in biomedical science.
• Assist research team with applying computational systems to accelerate scientific discovery.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
