Job summary

Texas A&M University Health Science Center seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Computational Biology to conduct hypothesis-driven computational analyses of sequencing data, develop models, and contribute to publications. You will collaborate across TAMU labs and external partners, mentor students, and help manage data pipelines.

The role requires a PhD in computational biology or related fields, experience with RNA-seq/ATAC-seq/ChIP-seq, and programming in Python/R.

Qualifications

• Appropriate PhD.
• PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science.
• Experience with UNIX/Linux and programming in Python, R, and/or Perl.
• Experience with analysis of genomic, transcriptomic, epigenomic data including RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, and ChIP-seq.
• Experience in working with high-performance computing environment.
• Data management and developing data-processing pipelines.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as R, Python, Matlab.
• Familiarity with software development best practices (e.g., unit testing, version control).
• Familiarity with inferential statistics and machine learning.
• Expertise in computational biology and ability to devise innovative analytical approaches to high-volume data.

Responsibilities

• Performs hypothesis-driven computational research with a clear understanding and use of controls.
• Uses computational methods to analyze large-scale sequencing data and formulate quantitative models.
• Interprets the data and explain the results in research discussion.
• Implements, applies, and evaluates tools to process, integrate, and visualize high-throughput sequencing datasets.
• Explores and collaborates with TAMU labs and external collaborators.
• Presents work at group meetings and writes up for publication.
• Maintains and updates software on the TAMU cluster; contributes to codebase and GitHub repository.
