Job summary

Peraton in Austin, TX is seeking a Senior CFD Engineer to perform CFD and thermal simulations in data center environments, evaluating airflow, cooling, and temperature distributions.

You will author reports, optimize containment and cooling configurations, and integrate DCIM sensor inputs with BMS telemetry. Collaboration with the Senior CFD Engineer on portfolio-level analyses will be essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering with 5+ years of CFD or thermal modeling experience.
• Master's, Ph.D. substitutions permitted per framework to account for years of experience; alternative educational path accepted.
• Proficiency with TileFlow or equivalent CFD software required.

Responsibilities

• Perform CFD and thermal simulations to evaluate airflow, cooling, temperature distribution, and equipment operating conditions within data center environments.
• Author simulation reports and recommend containment, tile, and cooling configuration adjustments.
• Integrate DCIM sensor and BMS telemetry inputs into modeling scenarios.
• Support the Senior CFD Engineer on portfolio-level thermal analyses and design reviews.

Requirements

• Currently possess or be able to obtain VA Public Trust — High Risk (BI High) / Tier 4 background investigation.
• Bachelor's degree, preferably in Mechanical, Aerospace, or a related engineering field; 5+ years of CFD or thermal modeling experience.
• Education substitutions (per Peraton Career & Compensation Framework): Master's degree substitutes ~2 years of required experience; Ph.D. substitutes ~5 years of required experience. In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, 4 additional years of relevant experience is acceptable (Associate's degree + 2 additional years also accepted for equivalent professional levels).
• Working proficiency with TileFlow or equivalent CFD software.

Desired Skills, Tools & Certifications

• Tools: Innovative Research TileFlow (primary CFD), 6SigmaDC / Future Facilities (alternate), AutoCAD, MS Visio, SketchUp, and DCIM sensor data (Nlyte).
• Processes: ITIL v4 service management, SAFe Agile / Scrum for iterative delivery, NIST 800-53 / RMF, ISO 27001, TIA-942, ASHRAE TC 9.9, VA CRISP alignment, NFPA 70/70E, and OSHA safety practices.; ASHRAE TC 9.9; PUE methodology.
• Certifications (desirable): PE (Mechanical), EPI CDCP/CDCS, ASHRAE Datacom certificate, LEED AP.
