Job summary

Grimshaw's Los Angeles studio seeks a Computational Design Specialist to advance architectural workflows and digital tool adoption across projects. You will embed in project teams, shaping design outcomes with strong computational and design judgment, collaborating with the Design Technology network.

Ideal candidates bring 3+ years applying computational design in practice, fluency with Rhino/Grasshopper and experience with programming and automation.

Qualifications

• Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Computational Design or related field or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years applying Computational Design in professional practice as architect or technologist.
• Advanced proficiency in Rhino and Grasshopper; competent in Revit, Dynamo and Rhino.Inside.
• Experience with at least one programming language (Python, C# or JavaScript).
• Ability to develop computational workflows and custom tools.

Responsibilities

• Support project teams with computational design across project stages.
• Develop workflows to improve design exploration, analysis, automation and delivery.
• Assist early-stage design optioneering and data-driven decision making.
• Collaborate with BIM, Sustainability, CGI and design teams for integrated workflows.
• Support adoption of emerging technologies including Generative AI.
• Contribute to standards, templates and learning resources via training and mentoring.
