PharmaEssentia Innovation Research Center (PIRC) in the United States seeks a Scientist II, Computational Biology to advance target discovery using multi-omics, agentic AI, and predictive modeling. Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or related quantitative discipline, and 0-3 years’ industry experience.
  • Experience in multi-omics target discovery, AI agent development, computational structural biology, or cellular perturbation modeling.
  • Experience applying computational biology and ML/AI to pharma discovery or translational research questions.
  • Hands-on multi-omics analysis; single-cell transcriptomics required; integrating multiple modalities preferred.
  • Strong programming in Python/Java/C#/R with good software design, testing, version control, documentation, and reproducible analysis.
  • Knowledge of modern ML/DL/AI methods for biological data, including evaluation, leakage prevention, uncertainty, and benchmarking.
  • Ability to turn scientific questions into testable computational hypotheses and explain methods to multidisciplinary audiences.
  • Strong collaboration across oncology, hematology, or immunology contexts.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate and analyze multi-omics datasets to identify disease-relevant targets.
  • Develop AI agents to support scientific workflows with human review and traceability.
  • Build target-identification frameworks combining genetic evidence, tractability, and translational relevance.
  • Create perturbation-response models to predict effects across cell types and contexts.
  • Apply computational structural biology to assess target biology and docking.
  • Create reusable computational frameworks with standards for reproducibility and provenance.
  • Collaborate with Immunology, Biologics, Translational Science, and other partners to translate questions into plans.
  • Track evolving methods in multimodal models and agentic AI; adopt when advantageous.
  • Communicate findings through visuals, docs, and publications.
