Qualifications

  • Six years of progressively responsible experience in systems analysis, business intelligence, reporting platform administration, enterprise application support, data warehousing, or related IT work.
  • Three years of hands-on experience administering or supporting SAP Business Objects Enterprise or equivalent BI platform.
  • Three years of experience with SQL, relational databases, semantic layer or metadata design, role-based security, software lifecycle management, and production support.

ABOUT THE Division

General description

The Cloud and Analytics Section in the Information Technology Division is seeking a Business Intelligence Administrator to serve as the technical and functional lead for the planning, configuration, security, maintenance, enhancement, and operational support of reporting, semantic layer, and analytics capabilities. This role includes responsibility for administering and supporting SAP Business Objects as a core enterprise reporting platform. Work will involve analyzing enterprise reporting requirements, data access needs, system performance, and business processes to recommend and implement secure, reliable, and scalable reporting solutions. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership for the Business Intelligence application architecture, including SAP Business Objects administration, upgrades, integrations, governance, and support activities. The role requires close coordination with data warehouse, database, cybersecurity, and infrastructure teams, as well as vendors and business stakeholders. This position is part of a team of people who are open-minded and collaborative, adaptable, dedicated to their craft and aren't afraid to roll up their sleeves. Work Hours

8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., 40-hour week, Monday ¿ Friday. May occasionally work evenings, weekends and/or holidays. Application support activities periodically require on-call responsibilities or work during non-standard hours. Hours may change based on business needs.

Teleworking may be considered if certain working conditions are met. The candidate must have permanent residency within the state of Texas and must be able to meet in office requirements, which can vary among different sections (i.e., report to office 1 day/month, 1 day/week, etc.). Travel reimbursements are not provided for teleworking.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree.
  • Six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in systems analysis, business intelligence, reporting platform administration, enterprise application support, data warehousing, or related information technology work.
  • Three (3) years of hands‑on experience administering or supporting SAP Business Objects Enterprise or an equivalent enterprise BI/reporting platform.
  • Three (3) years of experience with SQL, relational databases, semantic layer or metadata design, role‑based security, software lifecycle management, and production support.
Preferred Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited four‑year college or university with a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, business administration, data analytics, or related field

Substitutions

One (1) additional year of the full-time experience in systems analysis, business intelligence, reporting platform administration, enterprise application support, data warehousing may substitute for each year (30 semester hours) of the required education with a maximum of 120 semester hours (four years)

In This Role You Will
Oversee and maintain the SAP Business Objects platform.
  • Configure, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot Business Objects Enterprise components.
  • Monitor availability, capacity, job processing, failures, and system performance; resolve or escape complex incidents.
Lead systems analysis and solution design.
  • Coordinate with business units, data owners, and technical teams to identify reporting, analytics, workflow, data access, and system integration requirements.
  • Analyze existing processes and applications for efficiency and effectiveness; develop options, recommendations, specifications, process flows, and technical designs for capabilities.
Manage security, access, and reporting governance.
  • Oversee user accounts, groups, roles, folders, applications, and report level access in accordance with least privilege principles, data classification requirements, and agency security policies.
  • Implement and review authentication, single sign-on, authorization, audit, and access control configurations.
  • Support periodic access reviews and remediation activities.
Develop and support reporting metadata and data connectivity.
  • Design, maintain, validate and optimize universes/semantic layers, connections, data foundations, business layers, report objects, prompts, and data security profiles.
  • Partner with data warehouse, DBA, and integration teams to improve data quality, query performance, refresh reliability, and consistency of enterprise reporting definitions.
Plan and execute platform lifecycle initiatives.
  • Lead or substantially contribute to upgrades, patches, migrations, disaster recovery preparation, environment refreshes, system integrations, and adoption of new Business Objects features.
  • Develop implementation plans, risk assessments, test plans, rollback procedures, release communications, and post-implementation evaluations.
  • Test and diagnose systems to verify that critical business, technical, performance, and security requirements are met.
Provide advanced support, consultation, and user enablement.
  • Serve as a senior escalation point for complex reporting, scheduling, security, universe, and platform issues.
  • Provide technical consultation, create user and administrator documentation, deliver training or knowledge transfer, and guide report developers and power users in approved standards and effective use of Business Objects tools.
Maintain documentation, vendor coordination, and operational reporting.
  • Maintain system architecture diagrams, configuration standards, operating procedures, support knowledge articles, inventories, and change records.
  • Coordinate with software vendors and managed service providers as needed; track service issues, product defects, licenses, and support activities.
  • Prepare status reports, make technical recommendations and metrics for leadership.
