Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. is hiring for a position focused on compressor test execution and assembly tasks. You will run test stands, perform valve assembly, and document data according to test specs, with emphasis on safety and quality.

Qualifications

  • Candidates must demonstrate mechanical aptitude and the ability to follow oral or written instructions.
  • Familiarity with 5S work area standards and Kaizen-style teamwork is preferred.
  • Experience with hand tools and preparing parts for assembly or testing is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Run test stands and perform valve assembly for hand wheels unit assembly.
  • Record and collect compressor data per test requirements.
  • Perform cleaning, masking, and preparation of parts for testing and storage.
  • Conduct pneumatic or hydrostatic pressure tests per ASME or Frick MPS instructions.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area and report leaks or defects to supervision.

Job description

Load, pipe and align compressor and any other associated tasks necessary to assure proper run‑in of compressor.

  • 2. Must be able to run all Test Stands and perform valve assembly of hand wheels unit assembly.
  • 3. Record and/or collect pertinent compressor data according to specified test requirements.
  • 4. Wash, clean and wire brush or scrape parts as necessary.
  • 5. Work from oral or written instructions or tags to properly mask nameplates, serial plates, machine or mating area, control panels, etc.
  • 6. Apply decals as specified.
  • 7. Prepare parts or assemblies for storage.
  • 8. Remove all inside and external loose and fused sand and metal projections that do not follow the contour of the part.
  • 9. Assemble caps, plugs, flanges and any other assorted parts in order to perform the pressure test operation per drawings or Frick MPS instructions.
  • 10. Use of hand or power tools may be required to prepare surfaces for testing. Some attaching of nameplates by fasteners may be required.
  • 11. Pressure test (pneumatic or hydrostatic) as per ASME Code specs or Frick MPS instructions (eye certification required) and present to ASME authorized Inspector for certification for registration.
  • 12. Advise supervisor of leaks areas as per ASME requirements and Frick MPS instructions. (Certification required)
  • 13. Prepare for paint or shipping by: A. Capping B. Cleaning C. Skidding
  • 14. Detect unusual conditions or defective material and report to proper supervision.
  • 15. Perform necessary material handling associated with job.
  • 16. Maintain clean, safe work area and equipment according to 5S standards.
  • 17. Maintain necessary time, quality, quantity and other records.
  • 18. May be called upon to participate within special work teams performing various team related duties. Including Kaizen events, 5S programs and problem solving exercises.
  • 19. Follow all safety policies, procedures and JHRA’s..
HIRING HOURLY RANGE

$29.08 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data.)
