Job summary

Accredo Specialty Pharmacy is seeking a detail‑oriented Compounding Pharmacy Technician to join an on‑site team. You will compound sterile and non‑sterile medications, document procedures per USP regulations, and maintain the compounding suite to high standards.

You’ll work a four‑day, 10‑hour schedule with occasional extended shifts, focusing on accuracy, safety, and regulatory compliance in a fast‑paced environment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • PTCB certificate required or preferred.
  • 1 year Pharmacy Technician experience required with compounding experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of USP 797/800 and sterile compounding preferred.
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Perform compounding functions within USP 797/800 in ISO 5 environment.
  • Clean and disinfect clean room, ante rooms, hood and equipment.
  • Distribute workload and backfill as needed to maintain workflow.
  • Operate production equipment, change labels, restock materials.
  • Inform teams of equipment malfunctions and coordinate with supervisor.
  • Support a positive work environment and team morale.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job description

As a Compounding Pharmacy Technician, you will be working on a specialized team focused on high touch programs to assist our patients. This role is very detail oriented, and you’ll spend the majority of your day working in our compounding suite compounding sterile and non-sterile medication, completing daily documentation as required per USP regulations and maintaining the compounding suite.

Rotating Work Schedule
  • 4 day/10-hour shift working Monday through Friday with the opportunity to working 6 PM to 5 PM EST or 6:30 AM to 5 PM EST with an alternating day off during the week.
  • Every 10 weeks, schedule will be 4 day/ 10-hour shift working 7 AM -6 PM EST or 7:30AM-6PM EST.
A Little More About The Day-to-day
  • Perform compounding functions within adherence to USP 797, USP 800 and other compounding rules and regulations in an ISO 5 environment.
  • Perform required cleaning and disinfecting of clean room, ante rooms, hood and equipment.
  • Ensure appropriate distribution of workload and workflow for assigned area including shifting resources and backfilling as needed.
  • Accurately and responsibly operate production equipment to include, but not limited to, changing labels, cleaning printers, monitoring production equipment, restocking materials.
  • Ensure appropriate teams are informed of equipment malfunctions.
  • Serve as the first line resource for questions/issues for team members in coordination with supervisor.
  • Promote a positive work environment for team that supports high employee morale and job satisfaction.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What You Need To Do The Job
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 1 year Pharmacy Technician experience required with compounding experience preferred.
  • PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) certificate.
  • Previous sterile compounding experience, USP 797 and USP 800 knowledge is strongly preferred.
  • Initial, periodic and validation training as required by USP 797.
  • General PC knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within dispensing pharmacy.
  • Strong attention to detail with good organizational skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt in a dynamic work environment, learn quickly, solve problems, and make decisions.
  • Ability and desire to assist team members.
  • Ability to work a four day 10-hour shifts, Monday-Friday w/rotating day off, and a willingness to work a modified schedule to accommodate heavy work volumes, as needed.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to perform highly physical daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning activities while wearing a respirator, eye protection, and full sterile attire. Activities may include lifting 20-30 lbs., bending, stretching, reaching above and below the head and waist, kneeling, and climbing step ladders.
  • Adherence to strict personal hygiene requirements, including no jewelry, makeup, hair extensions, false eyelashes, or long and/or false fingernails while working.
