Company Description Mister Meds is a specialized compounding pharmacy that prepares customized medications to meet the unique needs of patients and healthcare providers. The team adjusts dosage forms, such as transforming pills into gels or liquids, and can add flavors or other excipients to improve taste, texture, and ease of consumption. Compounded injectables are also prepared when standard formulations are not suitable for specific clinical requirements. Mister Meds is committed to educating patients and providers on the benefits, preparation methods, and appropriate use of prescription compounds. The pharmacy strives to build collaborative relationships to support personalized prescription supplement and medication needs.
Role Description The Staff Pharmacist is a full-time, on-site role based in Abilene, TX. This role is responsible for accurately preparing and dispensing compounded and conventional medications in accordance with prescriptions, regulatory requirements, and company protocols. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing and interpreting prescriptions, overseeing compounding procedures, verifying calculations, and ensuring quality control and proper documentation. The Staff Pharmacist provides counseling to patients and guidance to providers on medication use, potential side effects, and appropriate administration methods. Additional responsibilities include supervising pharmacy technicians, maintaining inventory and controlled substances records, supporting continuous process improvement, and promoting a safe, compliant, and patient-centered environment.
Qualifications

  • Licensure and education: Active Pharmacist license in the state of Texas, Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent, in good standing and eligible to practice without restrictions.
  • Compounding and clinical expertise: Demonstrated knowledge of pharmaceutical compounding techniques, dosage form conversions, stability and compatibility, and safe handling of injectable and non-injectable medications.
  • Quality, safety, and compliance skills: Strong understanding of USP standards, state and federal pharmacy regulations, controlled substance requirements, and best practices in sterile and non-sterile compounding.
  • Patient and provider communication skills: Ability to counsel patients clearly, collaborate with prescribers, explain complex medication information, and provide education on compound use and administration.
  • Operational and supervisory abilities: Experience overseeing pharmacy technicians, managing workflow, maintaining accurate records, and supporting inventory control in a busy pharmacy environment.
  • Analytical and detail orientation: High level of accuracy in prescription review, dosage calculations, documentation, and error prevention, with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Technology and systems proficiency: Comfort working with pharmacy management systems, electronic health records, and relevant software tools for prescription processing and documentation.
  • Professional attributes: Commitment to patient-centered care, ethical practice, reliability, and the ability to work collaboratively in an on-site team setting in Abilene, TX; prior experience in a compounding or clinical pharmacy setting is preferred.
