We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Compound Plant Operator. This role involves overseeing the overall production of raw materials for blending and mixing. Responsibilities include ensuring the production process runs smoothly, safely, and meets quality standards. The operator must maintain a clean environment and operate plant machinery such as mixers, scales, and control systems.

This position is based in Asheville, NC, with a starting pay of $25.45/hr plus a 10% night shift differential. The work schedule is 12-hour shifts (9:00 pm – 9:00 am) on a 2-2-3 continental schedule. We seek an energetic individual with keen attention to detail and a positive attitude. The ideal candidate will prioritize safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and operate recipes, including ingredient amounts, heating and cooling times, and temperatures.
  • Manage the compound computer system to ensure proper weights, heats, pressures, etc.
  • Inspect, repair, and report issues with filters, material lines, and hoses.
  • Oversee railcar unloading, ensuring hoses are secured, railcars are vented, unused hoses are capped, and the area is kept clean. Communicate with the railroad yard and handle paperwork such as batch reports, resin/silo reports, tote reports, and railcar reports.
  • Notify the production supervisor of any silo or material changes affecting the compound.
  • Must be clean-shaven and fitted for respiratory protection.
  • Perform housekeeping duties assigned to the operator.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing, especially with chemical production processes, is preferred.
  • Stable work history demonstrating commitment to a long-term career.
  • Ability to operate a forklift.
  • Basic math, reading, and computer skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in confined spaces or at heights (e.g., in silos).
