Position: Compound Plant Operator

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Compound Plant Operator. This role involves managing the overall production of raw materials for blending and mixing. Responsibilities include overseeing the production process to ensure it runs smoothly, safely, and meets quality standards. The operator must maintain a clean environment and oversee plant machinery such as mixers, scales, and control systems.

This position is based at our Asheville, NC facility, starting at $24.36/hr. The work schedule involves 12-hour shifts (9:00 AM – 9:00 PM on a 2, 2, 3 schedule). We seek an upbeat individual with keen attention to detail and a positive attitude. The ideal candidate will prioritize safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

1. Monitor and operate according to proper recipes, including ingredient amounts, heating/cooling times, and temperature controls.
2. Oversee the compound computer system, ensuring correct weights, heats, and pressures are maintained.
3. Inspect, repair, or report needed repairs of filters, material lines, hoses, etc.
4. Manage railcar unloading systems, including securing hoses, venting railcars, capping hoses, maintaining cleanliness, and communicating with the railroad yard. Responsible for accurate documentation such as batch reports, resin/silo reports, tote reports, and railcar reports.
5. Communicate any silo or material changes to the production supervisor that could affect the compound.
6. Must be clean-shaven and fitted for respiratory protection.
7. Perform housekeeping duties as assigned.

Qualifications

1. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
2. Previous manufacturing experience, especially with chemical production, is strongly preferred.
3. Stable employment history demonstrating commitment to a long-term career.
4. Ability to operate a forklift.
5. Basic math, reading, and computer skills.
6. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in confined spaces or at heights when necessary.
