Compound & Mixing-Production Operator

Summary

The Mixing Operator safely operates mixing equipment to support daily production. Duties include inspecting machines, monitoring performance, and resolving minor issues. The role involves handling chemicals and heat, requiring strict safety practices and protective gear. The operator maintains a clean work area, follows quality standards, and communicates with team leaders and supervisors.

Responsibilities
  • Perform operational pre-checks: Inspect equipment and systems before starting production to ensure everything is set up correctly and ready for use.
  • Conduct safety pre-checks: Verify that all safety measures are in place, including emergency stops, guards, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Troubleshoot machine and process issues during the shift
  • Monitor machine processes and respond to any issues
  • Check machine setups and conditions daily
  • Verify that scales and measuring devices are functioning properly
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality standards
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Ensure all checkpoints and sensors are working correctly
  • Confirm machines are operating as intended
  • Accurately record information on daily check sheets
  • Troubleshoot and communicate issues with the team leader or supervisor
  • Report all concerns to the team leader or supervisor
  • Operate and understand all mixing equipment
  • Participate in 5S activities (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain)
  • Stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects as needed
Knowledge and Skills
  • Basic Troubleshooting: Able to identify and fix minor machine or process issues.
  • Communication: Clear verbal and written communication with team leads, supervisors, and other departments.
  • Attention to Detail: Carefully follow instructions, check machine settings, and ensure quality standards are met.
  • Record Keeping: Accurately complete daily check sheets and quality documentation.
  • Teamwork: Work well with others to solve problems and maintain a safe, efficient work environment.
  • Time Management: Stay on schedule and complete tasks within shift timelines.
  • Physical Stamina: Able to stand for long periods and lift heavy materials safely.
  • Chemical Handling: Safely work with and around chemicals used in the mixing process, following proper procedures and PPE requirements.
  • Heat and Carbon Exposure Awareness: Understand and manage working conditions involving heat and carbon materials, ensuring safety and compliance with protocols.
Education and Experience
  • 2 years preferred Manufacturing Process or related field and Career Readiness Certificate (Silver or Above)
  • At least High School graduate or GED equivalent
Physical Requirements

Must be able to safely lift, push, pull, and carry items weighing 50 lb or more.
