Job summary

Emerald Coast Utilities Authority in Florida is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to assist in the bio-solids compost program. You will operate wheel loaders, backhoes, and windrow turners to process yard waste through shredding, composting, and curing stages.

You will also handle related office tasks, billing, and public communications. The role requires a high school diploma or GED and at least two years of heavy equipment experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; documentation may be requested.
• Ability to read/write at basic level and follow instructions; basic arithmetic.
• Two years of experience operating heavy-duty equipment and vehicles.
• Any combination of education, training, and experience that provides required knowledge and abilities.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment to load, unload, move, and transport yard waste for composting.
• Support bio-solids compost program and assist with manual tasks as needed.
• Coordinate public compost pickups by answering calls, billing, and reporting.
• Provide information to the public and maintain accurate records.
