Job summary

GE Aerospace seeks a Composites Machining Process Specialist for the 2nd shift to produce high‑quality aerospace components. You will operate CNC equipment, inspect parts, and contribute to process improvement to ensure compliance with industry standards.

You will collaborate with engineering to develop MPDs/SOPs, interpret drawings, and support EHS initiatives while mentoring peers and maintaining a safe, productive workflow.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree or High School Diploma/GED required or equivalent.
• Hands-on experience with machining or manufacturing environments preferred.
• Experience reading technical drawings and GD&T is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC equipment and adjust settings to machine complex shapes with high precision.

Machining Operations

As a Composites Machining Process Specialist, you will:

• Build your expertise in composites machining processes by Operating and adjusting CNC equipment to machine intricate shapes and features with high precision
• Produce high‑precision ceramic matrix composite (CMC) parts for turbines, Aerospace, and rocket applications using equipment such as Makino machining centers and hand tools
• Conduct in‑process quality inspections to ensure compliance with aerospace standards and specifications.
• Support and learn from more experienced machinists, while also helping less experienced teammates with basic setups and best practices.
• Gain the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and use precision measurement tools, basic understanding of GD&T
• Follow daily production plans, communicate status, and help ensure work is completed safely, on time, and to quality standards

Drive Process Excellence

• Collaborate with engineering teams to develop, improve, and implement manufacturing process documents (MPDs), standard operating procedures (SOPs), and operational procedures (OPs).
• Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and compliance.
• Understand how individual tasks contribute to the overall production process, ensuring compliance and conforming products.
• Use data to identify process issues, suggest corrections, and ensure process measurements align with hardware requirements.
• Support Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS):
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of waste management, including proper disposal and handling of materials, reading hazard labels, and maintaining area control systems.
  • Complete disposal paperwork, monitor Points of Generation (POG), and collaborate with EHS teams to maintain optimal environmental compliance.
  • Lead efforts to identify alternate solutions and contribute to changes that enhance safety and environmental performance.

Ensure Equipment Reliability

• Perform preventive maintenance (PM) and calibrations to ensure equipment readiness and reliability.
• Facilitate qualification and calibration activities and lead root cause analysis to implement effective corrective actions.

What We’re Looking For

• Associate Degree or High School Diploma/GED from an accredited institution.
• Preferred: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Technical Expertise: Hands‑on experience, complex equipment operation, and material characterization.
• Attention to Detail: Ability to perform precise measurements, document data accurately, and ensure compliance with procedures and standards.
• Problem‑Solving Skills: Proven ability to troubleshoot equipment, identify process issues, and recommend effective solutions.
• Collaboration: Strong communication skills and experience working with engineers and specialists to develop and improve processes.
• EHS Knowledge: Familiarity with waste management, hazard labels, and environmental compliance practices.
• Adaptability: Willingness to learn new skills, technologies, and processes to support continuous improvement.
