Job summary

Reliability & Performance Technologies (R&P) is seeking an experienced Composite Technician for a full-time role in Gautier, Mississippi. The technician will be responsible for installing, repairing, and troubleshooting composite lamination aboard U.S. Navy ships. Candidates must have 2-3 years of relevant experience and be capable of obtaining a DoD Secret security clearance. The position requires excellent attention to safety and quality standards, along with the ability to execute trade repairs and modifications safely. A competitive compensation package is offered.

Job description

R&P Technologies is looking for an experienced Composite Technician to fill a full‑time position undertaking a variety of tasks relating to installing, repairing, and troubleshooting composite lamination and lay up aboard U.S. Navy ships in Pascagoula, MS. We support several different ship classes and types at various Navy installations along the U.S. coastal areas. Due to the high amount of risk associated with this job, technicians must be responsible individuals with great attention to safety precautions.

Responsibilities
  • Undergo composite certification and qualification training.
  • As part of a small team, execute composite / installation trade repairs and modifications to shipboard composite structures.
  • Ensure work being performed complies with applicable installation procedures and practices.
  • Ensure all required documentation is completed and retained in the project QA book.
  • Report daily progress updates to your supervisor or lead.
  • Adhere to all safety precautions associated with composite material handling and use and comply with all local, state, and federal regulations when handling, transporting and disposing of composite material and hazardous material/waste.
  • Adhere to all shipyard, shipboard, and OSHA safety requirements.
  • Maintain quality standards associated with composite repair and installation as prescribed by the Composite Workbooks and Composite Owner’s Manual associated with this work.
Qualifications
  • Knowing how to read and interpret drawings, specifications, technical manuals, design notices, etc.
  • Familiar with basic computer skills.
  • Familiar with MS-Office programs including Word and Excel.
  • Must be a Composite Technician with a minimum of 2‑3 years relevant experience working in ship repair aboard U.S. Navy ships (technical education may be substituted for a portion of the experience requirement).
  • Composite Owner’s Manual familiarity and proficiency.
  • Composite Work Item Workbook familiarity and proficiency.
  • Must be familiar with NAVY Standard Items.
  • Ability to read, understand and follow customer work item requirements and drawings.
  • Individual must have a keen attention to detail and be quality metric driven.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret security clearance (current active Secret clearance is a plus).
  • Fluency in English (verbal and written).
  • Secret DOD security clearance preferred.
  • Shipyard competent person certification a plus.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem‑solving ability.
  • Excellent physical condition with the ability to lift 50 pounds on your own.
  • Willingness to travel to various locations in support of ship maintenance availabilities.
  • Flexibility with regards to scheduling and planned support due to constant Navy movement.
  • Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Navy DBIDS security credentials.
