Job summary

Reliability & Performance Technologies (R&P) is seeking a Marine Electrical Technician Level I for a full-time position. Responsibilities include assisting with the installation and troubleshooting of electrical systems aboard US Navy ships. Candidates should be responsible and safety-oriented, with the ability to work in confined spaces and lift heavy loads. U.S. citizenship is required for security clearance.

Job description

R&P Technologies is looking for a marine electricial technician level I to fill a full‑time position undertaking a variety of tasks relating to assisting with the installation, repair and troubleshooting of electrical and electronic equipment onboard US Navy ships in Norfolk, VA. R&P supports several different ship classes and types at various Navy installations around the United States coastal areas. This position will involve assisting in the installation of electrical cabling, building and testing of various electrical connectors, installation of hardware, and troubleshooting malfunctions in several different electrical and electronic systems. Due to the high amount of risk pertaining to this job, electricians must be first and foremost responsible individuals with great attention to safety precautions. The ideal candidate must be willing to learn different kinds of electrical devices and systems. Prior shipboard experience is preferred, but not required.

  • Assist in the execution of electrical installations for many different electrical and electronic systems such as lighting, MC systems, 115V/440V electrical plant equipment, Uninterrupted Power Supply equipment, Audio/Video equipment, antenna systems and various others.
  • Install electrical cabinets, fixtures and equipment for various electrical systems.
  • Install safety and distribution components (e.g. switches, resistors, circuit‑breaker panels, etc.).
  • Connect wiring in electrical circuits and networks using various MIL‑SPEC connectors and connection boxes.
  • Pull in cables of various lengths and sizes to accommodate system connections.
  • Work shipboard availabilities with a various teams.
  • Good critical thinking and problem‑solving ability.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds on your own.
  • Willingness to travel to various locations in support of ship maintenance availabilities.
  • Flexibility with regards to scheduling and planned support due to constant Navy movement.
  • Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Security Clearance and base access credentials.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be reliable and able to work Monday‑Friday 40hrs and be flexible to work weekends if required.
