Airbus Americas, Inc. in Mobile, AL is seeking a Composite Technician I to join our team. You will read blueprints, perform composite repairs, and self‑inspect finished parts in compliance with FAA, EASA, and TCAA requirements.

The role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, plus vocational training in composites and 3+ years of hands‑on aerospace composites experience. English proficiency is essential; a second language is a plus.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical/Professional/Vocational Training in the Composites field is required.
  • Three (3)+ years of hands-on experience with Aerospace or equivalent composites (shipyard, supplier, etc.) is required.
  • One (1)+ years of experience in Aerospace is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret common blueprint/drawing types.
  • Perform composite repairs (as directed) related to molds, wet and prepreg lay‑up, re‑work/repair of existing structures.
  • Self‑inspect parts and components where applicable.
  • Use related measuring devices/tools to ensure adherence to documentation.
  • Maintain accurate recording of completed work and work‑in‑progress.
  • Assist with housekeeping and lifting/pushing/pulling as needed.
  • Maintain on‑hand stock quantities.

Airbus Commercial Aircraft is looking for a Composite Technician I to join our team in Mobile, AL.

Ability to objectively self‑inspect work, finished parts and components as required. Maintaining written records and work logs in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA); European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and Transport Canada (TCAA) requirements.

Nearby on Airbus Way you will find the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility for commercial aircraft. Opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. Your challenges
  • Ability to learn to read and interpret all common and accepted blueprint/drawing types.
  • Performs composite repairs (as directed) related to molds, wet and prepreg lay‑up, re‑work/repair of existing structures.
  • Self‑inspects parts and components where applicable.
  • Ability to use all related measuring devices/tools to ensure adherence to requested part/component documentation.
  • Adherence to various policies regarding accurate recording of completed work and work‑in‑progress.
  • Housekeeping, assistance with lifting/pushing/pulling, etc.
  • Maintain acceptable/normal levels of on‑hand stock quantities.
Your boarding pass
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Some form of Technical/Professional/Vocational Training in the Composites field (apprenticeship, institutional training, etc.)
  • Three (3)+ years of hands‑on experience with Aerospace or equivalent composites (shipyard, supplier, etc.)
  • One (1)+ years of experience in Aerospace (preferred but not required)
  • Proficient in English Language (ability to read, write and effectively communicate)
  • A second language is preferred but not required (French, Spanish, German)
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg) occasionally
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively (English)
  • Ability to visually inspect parts/components (read small numbers in either Vernier scale or other)
  • Ability to climb stairs or ladders as required
  • Ability to walk on uneven floor/terrain for extended periods of time
  • Ability to sit/stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work on boom/scissor lifts for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work in confined spaces safely and frequently
