Job Description
Airbus Aerosystems Kinston is looking for an Industrial Engineer - Composite to join our team based in Kinston, NC.
You will support as an ME Engineer for Composite Technologies the site to improve composite production processes and support the ramp up of the A350 rate. You are also the focal point for composite ME topics in Kinston as an interface to the whole composite community.

The Airbus Aerosystems Kinston facility sits at the forefront of aerospace manufacturing, specializing in the production of large, advanced composite aerostructures. Our team builds critical components for the state-of-the-art Airbus A350 XWB, including the composite center fuselage and wing spar.

Responsibilities
- Process Securance and Advisory for Composite Processes (40%)
- Advise and support the site for AIRBUS composite process to conform to AIPI/AIPS and other composite process regulations.
- Check existing AIPI/S in Airbus process and secure its implementation in the site.
- Provide advisory to Management for process securance.
- Secure the exchange with other plants to align and validate processes and lessons learned.
- Composite Process Improvements and Ramp up (40%)
- Support improvement projects to protect the ramp up of A350 and propose new projects to improve and secure.
- Propose new ideas to improve lead time and cost of composite processes.
- Write specifications for composite manufacturing machines and environment with the support of the existing AIRBUS Composite network.
- Focal Point for Composite ME Processes (15%)
- Secure exchange with other AIRBUS plants to create lessons learned for composite ME technologies.
- Additional Responsibilities (5%)
- Serve as interface between Kinston composite community and existing AIRBUS composite communities to enable growth together.
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Engineering.
- 5 years experience with AIRBUS composite manufacturing, processes and regulations.
- Composite manufacturing skills – experience and study of manufacturing processes used for composite materials.
- Composite material knowledge – experience with composite materials.
- ME process knowledge – experience with ME processes, best case of AIRBUS, but at least in aviation industry.
- Transnational working experience – experience within international environment.
- Google Workspace proficiency.
- Travel: As required.
- English – influencing, fluent.
- Authorized to work in the US.
Physical Requirements
- Onsite: 100% on-site.
- Vision – able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment, read documents, reports and engineering drawings. Daily.
- Hearing – able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone, and to hear sounds on production floor including safety warnings or alarms. Daily.
- Speaking – able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications. Daily.
- Equipment Operation – able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts. Daily.
- Carrying – able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs. Occasional.
- Lifting – able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs. Daily.
- Pushing/Pulling – able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools. Daily.
- Sitting – able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer. Daily.
- Squatting/Kneeling – able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving. Several times a month.
- Standing – able to stand for discussions in offices or on production floor. Daily.Travel – able to travel independently and at short notice. 25% of role.
- Walking – able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces. Daily.
- Personal Protective Equipment – required PPE includes safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators/masks, protective gloves as required by site or customer site, 100%.
- Administrative position only PPE – steel-toed shoes required for all shop floor visits, appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required.
