Job Schedule: 3rd Shift 9/80 work 9 out of every 14 days – totaling 80 hours worked – and have every other Friday off

Job Description:

L3Harris is seeking a Composite Manufacturing Technician to work at our state-of-the-art Advanced Manufacturing Facility (AMF) in Huntsville, AL, which will be our inert manufacturing facility for fabrication and assembly of composite rocket motor hardware.

Essential Functions:

1. Produce parts, components and final assemblies using composite fabrication, compression molding, metal fabrication, modification, checkout, re-work, quality testing, and assembly utilizing detailed work instructions, schematics, diagrams, layouts or manufacturing test development or diagnostic equipment
2. Prepare various components for lay-up, filament winding, cure and post cure using cured and uncured rubber materials and adhesives
3. Operate various machinery and shop equipment which may include but not be limited to filament winders, ovens, autoclaves, manual lathes, CNC lathes, CNC milling centers, manual mills, boring mills, presses, furnaces, mixers, grinders, swages, paint booths, fume hoods and automated welding equipment
4. Fabrication and assembly of piece parts into completed sub-assembly using assembly tools
5. Perform vacuum bagging and related processes for fabrication and curing composite parts
6. Complete structural bonding operations using film adhesives, core materials, and adhesives
7. Build complex layups individually and in small groups
8. Insulate mandrels and composite cases
9. Filament wind composite structures
10. Cast, cure and machine sand mandrels
11. Facilitate and conduct OJT training of technicians as required
12. Troubleshoot processes and identify, modify and/or escalate out of control processes and production escapes
13. Work additional shifts as needed
14. Coordinate with maintenance, supervision and/or engineers in equipment setup and calibration
15. Participate in preventative maintenance activities
16. Clean machines, equipment, and work area according to SOPs

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent with 0-3 years prior experience in Manufacturing
