Job summary

AeroVironment is seeking a Composite Sample Prep Technician to join the Materials and Processing Team at Wright-Patterson AFB. You will work with material scientists and engineers to characterize ceramic and polymer matrix composites, perform sample prep, and support SEM, XRD, and profiling analyses.

The role emphasizes safe lab practices, routine sample prep, and documentation of findings. Prior lab experience and strong communication are required; US citizenship is mandatory and ITAR

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible for ITAR access.
• B.S. in materials science or mechanical engineering, or an associate degree with 1–2 years of lab experience.
• Ability to follow written SOPs and verbal instructions.
• Provide technical written reports.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong time management skills.

Responsibilities

• General laboratory support and housekeeping.
• Prepare samples and conduct SEM, XRD, and optical profilometry analyses.
• Follow employee health and safety requirements.
• Quality control of scaled synthesized materials.
