Job summary

ICOMAT in Gloucester Point, Virginia, is seeking a qualified Fitter to assemble composite components and perform bonding, surface preparation, curing and validation in an aerospace-grade setting.

You will read drawings, use hand and power tools, maintain fixtures, and uphold strict safety standards. A minimum of 3 years’ fitting experience and vocational training are preferred. Join a fast-growing team advancing lightweight materials.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a fitter in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Proficient in the use of hand and power tools, precision measuring instruments.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently.
• High level of precision and attention to detail in fitting and assembly tasks.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a team and communicate effectively across departments.
• Strong commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.

Responsibilities

• Carry out controlled structural adhesive bonding processes, including surface preparation, application, curing, and validation.
• Assembly of Composite components in line with Drawings, CAD or MoM, ensuring correct fixturing is used where required.
• Carry out any small out of “Fettling” as required using approved equipment and processes.
• Ensure Jigs and Fixtures are checked and maintained in line with Tooling Documents. With full calibration checks done as per schedule.
• Follow Health & Safety requirements along with ensuring you have read any COSHH documents before using materials.
• Maintain documentation and bookings against jobs.
• Feedback assembly / component issues to Line Manager
