Job summary

Valmont Industries, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated Fabricator in the Composite department to manufacture and repair centrifugally cast composite shafts for light pole products according to customer specifications.

You will select shafts, set up per production orders, and inspect parts for quality. This on-site role requires reading shop drawings, performing basic math, and maintaining a clean, safe work area while following all SOPs and EPA/fire standards.

Qualifications

• Proficient with tape measure and hand tools.
• Ability to read and follow written and oral directions.
• Ability to understand order prints and follow production schedule.
• Ability to use basic math skills up to and including fractions/percentages.
• Maintain supplies needed on a weekly basis.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 60 lbs., and work around chemicals.

Responsibilities

• Select the proper shafts & set up as per production orders.
• Check and repair surface imperfections.
• Review shop drawings for accuracy; drill and cut holes to meet customer requirements.
• Clean and prepare the pole surface for subsequent manufacturing steps, ensuring removal of debris.
• Regularly inspect parts for quality using measuring instruments per guidelines.
• Troubleshoot and correct operational and quality problems.
• Follow EPA and fire prevention standards; keep chemicals labeled.
• Keep work area and molding equipment clean and organized.
• Report defective material or unusual conditions to supervisor.
• Follow all safety regulations and operating procedures.
• Train and assist in developing less experienced personnel.
