Component Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer

Job Description

The Component Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer (SQE) is responsible for ensuring the supply chain provides high-quality, reliable components for aerospace. This role involves supplier quality audits, source inspections, evaluating supplier quality management systems, and tracking supplier performance. The SQE plays a vital role in SEAKR’s Product Assurance department, ensuring electrical component requirements are met and resolving supplier quality issues. The SQE reports to the Manager of the Supplier Quality Engineering Group.

In this position, you will:

  • Support procurement, program management, manufacturing, and engineering with supplier quality activities related to discreet EEE components.
  • Work on a hybrid schedule (minimum 2-3 days/week in the office) as a Receiving Inspection liaison to handle material discrepancies and visual findings.
  • Participate in commodity Control Boards to discuss new suppliers, track receipts/dispositions, and propose additional testing.
  • Maintain relationships with internal teams to understand challenges.
  • Evaluate new and ongoing suppliers’ quality systems onsite.
  • Perform supplier surveillance during fabrication to ensure compliance.
  • Maintain electronic records of supplier evaluations and surveillance reports.
  • Manage supplier approval ratings and records in SEAKR’s ERP system.
  • Review and approve purchase orders for flight hardware.
  • Identify and mitigate supplier risks.
  • Analyze defect trends and lead continuous improvement projects.
  • Support non-conformance evaluations and Material Review Board (MRB) dispositions.
  • Communicate non-conformances, track, and help implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate in vetting and onboarding new suppliers.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and process enhancements aligned with AS9100 standards.

Qualifications

Required Skills, Experience & Qualities:

  • Experience with discreet component assembly manufacturing in cleanroom/lab environments.
  • Knowledge of EEE parts testing, failure analysis, and non-conformance resolution.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years in product assurance and quality systems, familiar with ISO9001/AS9100.
  • Ability to travel (<25%, up to 75% as needed) for supplier audits and inspections.
  • Strong communication skills for external supplier interactions.
  • Technical problem-solving skills and ability to interpret engineering documentation.
  • Effective team collaboration and task prioritization skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Knowledge of Military Performance Specifications (e.g., MIL-STD series).
  • Experience with root cause analysis tools (5 Whys, 8D, Fishbone, FMEA).
  • Experience improving supplier performance via metrics.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems.
  • Understanding of quality systems and supply chain documentation.

Additional Information

Salary range: $85,000 - $125,000, depending on qualifications. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), bonuses, and paid leave. US Citizenship required. SEAKR is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
