Job Description

The Component Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer (SQE) is responsible for ensuring that SEAKR’s supply chain consistently provides high-quality, reliable components for aerospace applications. This role involves participating in supplier quality audits, performing source inspections, auditing supplier quality management systems, and tracking supplier performance. The SQE plays a critical role in SEAKR’s Product Assurance department, ensuring that electrical component requirements are properly executed and addressing potential supplier quality issues. The SQE reports to the Manager of the Supplier Quality Engineering Group.

In this position, you will:

  1. Support procurement, program management, manufacturing, and engineering with all supplier quality activities related to discreet EEE components.
  2. Report to the office on a hybrid schedule (minimum 2-3 days per week, more as required) to act as a Receiving Inspection liaison, assisting with material discrepancies and visual findings reported by the Receiving Inspection team.
  3. Attend and participate in commodity Control Boards; support discussions on new suppliers, track receipts and dispositions, and propose or support additional testing for suspect production/lots.
  4. Maintain relationships with internal teams such as SEAKR Engineering, Program Management, Radiation, CE, Procurement/Property, and Receiving Inspection to understand challenges.
  5. Perform evaluations of new and ongoing suppliers' quality systems.
  6. Conduct onsite supplier surveillance during fabrication of flight articles to ensure compliance with requirements.
  7. Draft and maintain electronic records of supplier surveillance and evaluation reports promptly.
  8. Create and maintain supplier approval ratings and records, including survey records and QMS certifications in SEAKR’s ERP system.
  9. Review and approve purchase orders for flight hardware.
  10. Identify and mitigate risks originating from suppliers.
  11. Analyze defect trends and lead continuous improvement projects.
  12. Support Receiving Inspection with non-conformance evaluations and Material Review Board (MRB) dispositions.
  13. Communicate non-conformances to suppliers and track/carry out corrective/preventive actions.
  14. Collaborate with Procurement, SQE, and Component Engineers to vet and onboard new suppliers.
  15. Support SEAKR's Continuous Improvement initiatives by defining and enhancing processes to meet AS9100 standards.
Qualifications

Required Skills, Experience & Qualities

  • Experience with discreet component assembly manufacturing and cleanroom/lab environments.
  • Knowledge of EEE parts testing (e.g., screening, qualification, DPA, re-life), failure analysis, and non-conformance resolution.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent training and experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in product assurance and quality systems, with exposure to ISO9001/AS9100 standards.
  • Ability to travel as required.
